Took the yak up Birch Creek today. Fished from 10 till 3. I was looking for Whites and Crappie. Not a single white, but I did end up with 4 keeper crappie. Also caught 4 black bass. That was fun...
Skinny water getting into the creek, but I did see two boats up there.

I could not buy a Crappie bite today.

Wow! No reports from today? I guess I'll be the first then. Very, very slow today. I fished with a guy from the Austin Bass Fishing forum and between the two of us we ended up with 4 White Bass, 2 Catfish, and 1 Drum in about 6 hours of fishing. All fish were caught out of Nails Creek. There was plenty of water in the creek once we got into the channel, but the fishing conditions were tough. The winds were strong even in the creek and when there wasn't wind there was lots of pollen, leaves, and other debris on the water. We actually spent a good amount of time fishing for Crappie, but couldn't get any to bite. They're in there though because we saw a guy fishing from the bank pull out a couple of really nice ones. On the way out we talked to a guy who had been fishing in Yegua Creek and he said it was slow there as well. I'm really glad we made the decision to fish Nails today because at the boat ramp we watched two guys struggling against the wind in a canoe. They told us it took them two hours to get from the mouth of Yegua Creek to the boat ramp! Thanks for the report! I feel like I've done that 100 times....Kayaking to the mouth of the Yegua with wind in my face and then come out of the creek with the wind in my face. That wind can be punishing coming out of the Yegua!

It is shallow enough to walk all the way from the mouth of the Yegua to Nails creek, float over the channel of nails creek and then walk to the boat ramp along the south shore. I've done that a few times when the wind really kicks up out of the south...

I don't know what is making the fish go MIA but something sure has them bugged! Fishing times chart Looks like late next week the situation with the moon will improve that fishing a little. Look for peaks going well into the top part of the chart. Thursday afternoon looks good Thursday's afternoon peak

Its very clear that the white bass bite is off. With out a question, we need more rain. There's not enough water flow for them to feel safe going upstream and staying there for the spawn. They don't want to get traped in the creeks. Pray for rain, or go outside and do a rain dance.

Looks like a good chance of rain tomorrow(80%) so hopefully it'll rain and send some more fish up the creek and justify a trip out there. In the mean time anybody heard any reports on crappie from the main lake? Maybe big creek marina?

Left NC park Sunday at 7:45 went straight to Yegua, wind was very light early. Whites were slow as all have mentioned. Went about 4 miles up and saw many fishing the bank. Most had none or a couple strung up. I managed to hook 8 but only landed 4 and one largemouth. Trip back to park around 3pm was murder against the wind.

When the creek drops and the flow slows so does fishing for whitebass. The crappie bite should still be good but even that was off last weekend. I am hoping by Thursday the bite will return and be peaking again around the 9th of February

I was thinking the same thing Ben. I may get there before 10:00am. I am interested in checking out Nails Creek before paddling over to the Yegua...Lawton
