I got a ticket on caddo for traveling at a unsafe speed. I was right in front of big pines on a Thursday afternoon when I got the ticket. Tried to fight it and lost.

The signs at the ramps should be your 1st clue.

If the hull is decent, faster means less wake. I'd rather a bass boat blow by me full speed than slow down and plow through.

25 mph on that lake would cause alot of damage, i prefer 50+... no wake made...

I haven't been on arlington in awhile. I thought it was 30. There were speed limit signs at both ramps. You should know the lake regs if you fish it. No alcohol allowed on it since it is run by the city. Skeet, if your boat will not stay on pad at 25 you need to get someone to set it up right.

Really?

What determines the speed limit

I wonder during Monday thru Friday in the mornings and evening you have to observe School Zones on the lake

But seriously, Sounds like a Barney Fife Wannabe GW

Should of got his name and called his supervisor and informed him of this

Of course, if the fish are schoolin' you'll want to slow down anyway!

How many boats do NOT have a speedometer?

I know of no statue, etc. in Texas that requires a boat to have a speedometer.

For cars, trucks, etc. there is such a requirement.

8.02. MISTAKE OF FACT.
(a) It is a defense to prosecution that the actor through
mistake formed a reasonable belief about a matter of fact
if his mistaken belief negated the kind of culpability
required for commission of the offense.

(b) Although an actor's mistake of fact may constitute
a defense to the offense charged, he may nevertheless
be convicted of any lesser included offense of which he
would be guilty if the fact were as he believed.

Without a speedometer it would be hard for the prosecution to prove culpability. This is why no wake zones are used rather than actual speed in mph. A wake is observable without any instrumentation.

Secondly, until GPS systems came online the traditional speedometers in pleasure boats were highly problematic in terms of accuracy.

Just messing with you. I don't have to worry about it, my boat will not run over 30
