Also check the trim over ride screw and make sure it is tight. If it is even a quarter turn lose it will let trim bleed down and not stay fully trimmed up. Happened to mine!

I honestly have never seen a Skeeter run in the high 70's. maybe 72-74mph but I have not seen any faster than that. I have owned more than a couple of them myself. I would definitely check out your engine as something might be up. Mine has. My ZX 21 in the first hour after break in did 77 mph. a few times. I have noticed since that time, it has leveled off to about 74 mph. Motor now has 9 hours on it, and it averages about what Mark said, 74 on top speed. But I normally dont take it above 70. Sinkey's last Skeeter was running great when I blew past him....

Yep - I've got a 16 FX21 - it runs right at 74 empty or loaded.
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

My 2015 ZX250 only has around 40 hrs on it. For kicks I ran it by myself, with a half tank of fuel and loaded with full tackle. Best I could get was 72.2 mph on a slick lake. It's a stock prop. Im fine with that and will probably never run more than 4750-5000 RPM again

If you see me doing 77 in a bass boat it's Sinkey's and I stole it.

That's about right and a respectable speed 70 - 75 for an unloaded Skeeter with a 135 lb driver. Most likely if my G was running that speed I would have mistakenly left the trolling motor down
