I tow my ole 361 Ranger with my GMC 4x4 Envoy. I dreaded struggling with the steepness of the Shuman's Beach ramp. UNTIL I installed a 6-1/2" DROP hitch. It made loading the boat a simple/normal operation.

Turn right at right McQueeny exit, about exit 187, onto 725. Go 3-4 miles past the 4th light, look for Maldanados Nursey on left. The second street past it on left is Schumans Beach. Follow it to the lake and after you go down a small hill and a right curve, the ramp will be on your right. There is no sign, but look for a ramp right next to RV trailer and the small stand alone restroom building between the road and the ramp.

If you launch at Schuman's Beach there is a restroom there. I $5 to launch but its worth it to have a restroom and a nice place to launch and tie up. Thank you for the info but I am not 100% sure where you are talking about. I can see Schuman's Beach Road(CR362)on the map but I don't really see a public boat launch. Can yopu help me out? Schuman's is a private launch with a drop box to place an envelope with the fee. It's an RV park with residents living there and limited parking space. This may not be a popular thing to say, but please pick up any trash left by the slobs. If the owner decides to shut it down because of crowds or trash, then the only launch will be I35.
Just one more cast!

It made loading the boat a simple/normal operation. I used to have the same headaches at any ramp in my '03 4Runner. My 4" lift made it difficult so I recently added the 6-1/2" drop hitch. Why did it take me this long to fix this issue?

I spent 3 hours there cleaning up trash last season that was blown up into the launch port as well as around that area. PLEASE guys if your gonna change bunkboards either throw out the leftovers OR if they may be remotely reusable I place them in the wood shed there for emergencies. I placed my 2 remaining good boards in there when I changed mine last week.
It is a WAY better facility than the 35 ramp IMO and gets me to one of my favorite sections of lake faster. PLEASE take care of the area and DONT THROW FISH GUTS IN THE TRASH.
I cleaned that up twice now also

I have never even been to the I-35 ramp. The three times I have been to Dunlap I used Schumans ramp (after finding out about it from this forum, thanks). One of those was a solo launch, no problem, other than stepping in some dog poo and not realizing it until I stepped back on the boat >:(.
It's a nice little place, worth the $5. On the second trip when I was pulling out, the owner came over to say hi and gave me a mini fishing report based on what he had heard from other anglers he had talked to recently.
There is a good chance I will be there tomorrow in fact.
