2 things: what is your preferred go to size in the LC pointer and what colors do you suggest to be a great all around choice for the majority or NTEX lakes that are in the blue/green color category. I don't get access to clear water with more than 3' of visibility very often. Since only a few baits would run $40 or more I want to buy what will catch fish and not fishermen. Almost all of my jerkbaits are a natural color but was thinking about a few chrome/hologram colors like the T-rock.
Thoughts? 1. I like the 100 size in the pointer, the one that is a step smaller is also good when the bass move onto the flats in March. 2. I would have three colors for NTEX lakes, gold or clown, chrome with black back, and bone. To be honest, the location you are fishing and speed of your retrieve often have lots more to do with getting bites than colors. I have found this to especially be true in stained water like we have here in North Texas. In ultra clear water, color makes much more of a difference. Thanks Stephen!

I fished one today for the first time. Caught a decent like 2 lber early in the day. Picked it back up later in the day and had a giant come up and get it. Got it near the boat the it made a run straight away from me. Jumped once and chunked the bait. I was so sick to my stomach. Would have been a new PB for me.
What brand rod are you guys throwing them on? Do any of you guys change out the hooks? If so, what kind?

actually there is a lot more to consistently catching bass on a jerk bait than one thinks. "jerkbait" fishing was born and raised here in the ozarks. actually there are many off the shelf jerkbaits that are supposed to suspend, that will actually sink. a sinking jerkbait has its place, but so does on that actually sits in place, and so does one that has a slow rise to it. with that said, you really need to have all three types of jerkbaits at your disposal: one that sinks, one that sits still, and one that will slowly rise. Then we get into short bill and long bills. most jerkbaits are all now made with shorter bills. but, there is most certainly a place and time for the old long bill rebels and rogues. at the right time, a long bill can not be beat.

Thanks for watching everyone, I really appreciate the comments! Feel free to contact me next time you come to Lake Fork for a fishing report or for any other questions. Hopefully someone on the TFF can catch a monster prehistoric bass on a jerkbait this spring and show us the pics!
