With the slender long body looks like a striper. Hybrids, at least man made ones, are usually more stout/stocky. Nice fish!!

Nice looking fish, I'd call it a striper too.

That is a striper. I have seen broken lines on striper coming out of Texoma.

I have a picture of a striper out of Texoma that has stripes to half the body and the other half, broken lines. I will try and post it soon. Its was taken on a film camera.

Definately a striper!

Hybrids have deeper bodies and the broken lines extend from about two to three lines from the top all the way down toward the bellie.

I've caught some back in the early eighties that looked just like the picture above and they just looked like a white bass on steriods, but I guess only God knows if they cross bred, since the stocking report doesn't show any.
Strange though that they have stocked hybrids in other nearby lakes and never put any in Canyon but true stripers? I'm scratching my head trying to figure that one out!

Okay, so if I remember correctly, if a striper has a few broken lines, this means that it was born in the wild. If a striper has no broken lines, that means that it was born in a fishery. Hybrids always have a broken pattern, but the reason some stripers can have broken lines is because that can occur naturally in the wild. Most stripers I have caught at Canyon have a few broken lines.

From what I've read in the past about stripers and spawning, Canyon would be a poor candidate for a self sustaining population.
There had been a non existent river flow over the last several years due to lack of rain and low water levels.
Canyon used to several years back have a pretty consistent river flow which has changed in recent years and that has hurt the white bass population on Canyon.
Stripers need miles and miles of moving current to have a successful spawn. Fertilized eggs must be carried by river currents until hatching (about 48 hours) to avoid suffocation.
Even at it best flow it would have been hard to maintain carrying striper eggs drifting along in moving water for 48 hours.
If I remember correctly the only lake in Texas that can maintain a striper population is Texoma.
