Sorry if I made you spill your beer, but it is closed here in Minnesota and has been every year for as long as I can remember. Do you think it helps the fishery to have a closed season like this and would you be willing to have a closed spawning season in Texas?

What does "closed" mean?? Can't have a pole in your hand or can't KEEP fish?? If it's the later, I don't care, as I don't keep bass anyway, or at least ones over 2 pounds. If it's YOU CAN'T fish legally.............that sucks!

"Closed" in Minnesota means that you can't fish for Bass at all. Catch and release is not allowed. Bass must be left alone.
Yes it does suck while the season is closed, but it would seem to allow the Bass a better opportunity to restock the lakes.

Don't know if it still is but Mich. and Wisc used to close the season.

What would help better is slots enforced or catch and release only lakes .limit tournaments or 3 fish limit . But never close the season never . Texas does its own surveys and stocks are lakes from hatcheries around the state.so its not totally dependent on the spawn.just giving nature a little help

Heck no, thats tournament season also. Heck in Tx the spawn is from January till June. thats half the year. Besides thats what we have TP&W is for, to BEST manage our fisheries based on how the public uses them.
