Hi folks, got asked that question, and we're not sure the answer. What would be the closet trophy winter blue cat lake to Austin? Suggestions on guides on those lakes? Looking for shallow water fishing for the jumbo's, as well as any eating size cats. Hired to put a trip together, trophy blue cats interested the party, and request to keep the trip to 2 hours or so from Austin has us asking those in the know, cause we're not sure. Be obliged for any input.

Fish haulers guide service on lake Waco is probably your best bet. Im not familiar with any bluecats guides in the immediate Austin area, but im sure there are some.

You might try and find out just where Cliff Hill is at, I don;t think he is to far from you and use to always catch some nice ones,

Dunlap, Mcqueeney, and Placid. All in the New Braunfels area! All three are on the Guadalupe River and they join each other. Big Blues in all three lakes.

Cliff is a absolutely great guide, can't go wrong with him. If you want to travel north a little ways try Lake Waco. Check out my Waco report, last 2 weeks putting in 30+ Pounders in the boat with few 40's also. Shallow bite in near, will know more tomorrow after trip.

Cliff Hill or Spud either would be great as far as an old man can tell. They both catch bigguns.
