In laymans Terms, There are 2 pumping portions of the Heart the Atria and the Ventricles. Of the 2 the Ventricles (high pressure) are the more important part, they pump blood to your lungs and out to your body respectively. The Atria (low pressure) are responsible for filling your Ventricles. This will happen whether the atria are working or not. In your case the atrial pumps are not in Sync with your Ventricles, they are fibrillating or quivering. The ventricles will still be filled by the natural pressure of your body. The blood thinners are to prevent clots from forming in your Atria as the rest of the body does its Job. Sometimes the body will correct this, sometimes you need a pace maker to override the fibrillation and to sync the atria and ventricles. You can live for many years with Atrial Fibrillation. Ventricular fibrillation will kill you in minutes. Take your meds, watch your diet, light exercise as approved by your Dr. If you are smoking /drinking stop. This is a warning that can given you years of fishing if you listen.

It just seems that I can't do anything that you don't want to do too.....almost. Last October I was told that I had Artial Flutter (which happens on the opposite side of your heart from A Fib). They too put me on blood thinners and then on Oct 19, I had heart surgery. Everything is fine now and you will be too.....but I think we need to stop running around together so much.

Or maybe just need to quit kissing ?
