If you want to take it that way then that is up to you. I have been at this for a good many years and no chipper I have ever had would take paint out of the eyes after I cured them. I have to make sure to get it out before to heat a bodkin enough to melt it out. No chipper should be able to get cured paint out of an eye, I have tried many of them. If you cure your paint right it will be very hard and normal chippers will not get it out at least not easy for sure. Most of my paint is cured at just about 400 degrees for 10 minutes of which I add a minute to allow it to heat up to that before timing starts. If you talk to the Mfg. CSI this is what they recommend. Except for a couple colors that will not take that much heat like Pearl.

Girly hand strength???

LOL, that is just WRONG!!! rolfmao

I side with Skip on this one though. The eyes are MUCH EASIER to clean out before curing, then after, IMHO.

Fish Killer: I would like a link to the eye cleaner you are using. I might just have the wrong/cheap one???

Never used any keepers, or super glue. I use to use barbed long ago,but use non collar, and have not issue , occasionally you have too straighten the plastic out, but I check my jig often out of habit, just ask Sac lait Pat how hard it is too pull slabs in with no hook on the end of the jig..... We were both stumped last year and missed several fish, we looked at each other like what the heck, we checked our jigs, mine was straightened out, and Ole Pats was broke at the hook bend. We laughed as we retied...

I side with skip also...after curing mine a few will "run" and coat my eye....you can get it, but it's work! More times than not I break the eye completely off, try to chip the paint with pliers...oh and I have MAN HANDS....I'm the jar opener at this house! Not saying your not doing it right, but when I cure my jigs, it's easier to break a rod than chip my paint dance2

Ill try to get a picture if the little chipper I have but it's nothing special and I think I spent a couple of bucks on it years ago

Seriously though as long as you don't over coat it the chipper works fine. Just gotta get it lined up and twist it a couple of times

That's where a good fluid bed comes into play when your coating. Keeps excess amounts of power off the head

400 for 10
Or
350 for 20

Either way it will clean out with an eye cleaner

a pin vise with small drill bits can be purchased at the welding supply stores & works wonders for cleaning those "pesky eyes"
These are made for cleaning cutting & welding tips, so they have a very good assortment of bit sizes stored within.

Back in the day I heated store bought heads with a lighter and ran a pin thru it. Now I look for clean heads with no paint in them. I use Crazy Angler heads now.
