I used to use these rods. I would say they're very good for the money. Mine were 3.0 test curve, they handled casting method balls very well.

Depends on the TC. I'm not a great caster by any means but could hit around 100 yards occasionally with a 3oz. lead or 70-80 yards with a method ball.

Anyone else have any input? What rods do you all use? I am looking for a rod that can cast far and catch heavy fish? Crago? Ted? Any info from the north texas crew?

what price range are you looking at?

you might consider Sonic SK4s, they have a deal at wacker bait and tackle, buy 2 and get a 3rd free, wll cost you around 5 bills for 3, I have a set of 3.5 tc and love them
Sonic SK4s clicky

Talk to amadeo,ACG, he has a great deal on the huxleys right now, i tested them side by side w the sk4 & IMHO the feel of the rod is amazing, granted i am a newb to euro, but the rod is very lite and powerful, and i need all the help i can get.

Nicks got the Black widows.. those are great rods for the price. I use three of the 25 dollar black phantoms (Now called Classic Carp rods) and can get method ball out pretty far but struggle with my softball size method balls....

Just got me a Huxley (thanks WCC!) and the difference is incredible. I can chunk a softball sized method ball out like its nothing on that one.

So you can spend more and cast a larger method ball or go cheap and cast out baseball sized method lol.

Also with the addition of bread crumb in my method means there is no such thing as casting too hard and loosing my bait.

Grass Carp PB - 56
Buffalo PB - 44
Common Carp PB - 27

I had a set of Sonik SK4s and i loved them they are good rods, but they don't even hold up to the Huxley's in my opinion. If you want some hit me up i will make you a great deal on some

You get what you pay for. Spend as much as you can afford. I've had quite a few different euro rods including chub outkast, Sonia sk4's, greys prodigy plus and my Century SP's kick all of their azzes when it comes to ease of distance.

thanks Scott, seeing your pics on here shows you know your gear to haul those monsters in. I was hoping some of you guys up north had chub snoopers or knew of their reputation. Those other rods mentioned, way above my pay grade. They are nice and whenever I get a promotion I may be able to afford them someday. I appreciate your response.

Like I said, spend as much as you can afford. You will and can catch big fish with any rod. But you will find some limitations occasionally.

true. I usually well almost all the time use 15dollar academy 9ft shimano rods I have caught multiple buffs over 30 and a couple carp over 20 and more then I can count of teens and single digit carp. I don't own the rods I posted you should try. but I have tried those and others and so far I really like those
