About the smallest thing my 1/2" gets is 3.5-4", some of them are gilled. I like it because it gets me gizzards and it sinks pretty quick so I don't have to do as much work trying to keep the boat near my throw. I fish alone often and I have to let the boat drift over where I suspect the bait is holding, so I want that net to sink quick enough that I don't run out of rope before it hits the bottom. The smaller the mesh the slower the sink but the smaller the bait you can catch too.

I have a joyfish 5/8 X 1 1/4 lb, I really like them, have had it for the last 3 years, I just bought another one like it from ssfireman, don't know if he is going to buy and sell any more anytime soon or not!
