OP big10 Extreme Angler B Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 2,861 Temple, Texas	Im looking for a new cast net. Will be using it to catch big gizzard shad off a boat in deep water. Im thinking I want a 7' (wish I could use 8' or 9' but I know there not legal)with 1/2" mesh and a lot of weight, either 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 lb per foot. What suggestions do you have for a reasonable priced net. I have a gift card to cabelas so if they have a good one there like im describing that would be perfect. Thanks Jerry Dillard

There is a brand new net about 30 yards out from the boat ramp at lakeland on lavon. Dang thing slipped of my wrist and down it went.

uncle_bagster TFF Celebrity U Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 5,040	What about using a 1/4" to catch minnows? I always see lots of small minnows along the shore at night. I'm thinking several wadded on a hook would make good bait if no shad were available. Plus you could use them for crappie.
