i know a lot of guys don't get started til march, but thinking about trying to do a little open event on feb. 9 on martin creek. it's a hot water lake that should be in full spawn phase at that time and it's the day before a new moon. so should be some good ones to be caught out there and hey, no slot on this lake!

this would be a 2 man team event, best 5 fish per boat.

entry would be $70 per boat/ $35 per man w/ 30 going to stringer and 5 going to big fish pots. if you wish to fish solo that's fine and you will have to pay for both halves of the stringer entry but only one of the big fish entries as that is an individual award. your entry to fish solo would be $65.

probably launch at 8 am and weigh-in at 4 pm.

idea for this or any event i put on is to have a relaxed good time with enjoying a day of honorable competition being the main goal. fun and trash talk are a mandate. junior anglers are encouraged to come out with an adult teammate.

alright guys we're gonna do it, my partners in and i'll start rounding up some of my usual suspects. can't wait to kick this year off.

only problem is since cast n wyld will be there i'll have to research some junior records for the lake. lol.

launch at 8 am and weigh-in at 4 pm. if you are at ramp area off plane by 4 you are on time. late penalty is 1/2 lb per 5 min's late

dead fish penalty is 1/4 lb and any dead fish must be retained for consumption by yourself or agreed to be taken by another angler for consumption.

we will be launching from a state park ramp and there is a $3 entry fee to park per man. state regs of 14 inch minimum length for largemouth, no size limit for spotted bass on this lake

we'll keep an eye on it as we get closer. if there's a problem with water level or safety of any sort i'll communicate with all participants. brandy branch would be an easy close alternative if necessary.
