The Yegua is fish-able by one man pontoon craft but right now it is so low that even using a kayak was tough. When the lake is near normal level there is more then enough water in the part of the Yegua we fish for most any small watercraft. With a little effort you can get to the area we fish from the lake but finding the mouth of Yegua creek can be a little tough. I'll be guiding folks up the Yegua again this spring if we get rain. see the Youtube video Yegua Tough Guys @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOZKKjWiz9c

With the weather holding nice and warm the crappie should still be biting. Anyone want to go kayak fishing the Yegua sometime soon?

The rain on Sunday only affected the east branch of the Yegua which has probably receded by now. The main branch (middle Yegua) is flowing but no more so then before the rain. To really get things going we need a flood.

I was out there in my kayak today and the water was a tad muddy in spots and up about an inch. Still no White Bass, but I caught the heck out of some Crappie. Probably caught & released about 50-75. A lot of them were smalls, but there were some big boys mixed in too. There's a few spots where you can get them from the bank as well.

I wish I could have been there with you but work does get in the way from time to time

The only creek with any water is the Yegua, but with the lake 2.6 feet low and the creek just barely flowing it probably isn't enough to get anything started. The best whitebass spawning years include a flood event that raises the lake several feet above pool stage. Predictions are for a dry winter but that's what they said last year and look what happened!...

This sounds serious! Where ya' headed? Ben, Sandra, my wife whom you've met before, has already been working in Longview, Wa. since mid-October. I can't sell the house till mid Feb. since we took a Govt. incentive a few yrs. back and it has a minimum amount of time to reside in the house. That date expires mid Feb. She has hooked up with a couple there from work that are in the Rod making business. He knows Gary Loomis, of GLoomis rod building fame. He sold to Shimano around a dozen yrs. ago but is still active in the fishing community around there. He will guide me around the Cowlitz, and Lewis rivers. Haven't narrowed down to a single house up there yet. Renting costs almost the same as owning an avg. size house. Decent rent avg. is $1100 a month. There are some decent housing deals out there I'm sure. Can't hardly wait to catch King Salmon, Steelhead and such. Not to mention the hunting opportunities.Planning on an Alaskan cruise this summer or next depending upon $$$. Next "bucket-list" fish is a King Salmon, then going to the coast for Flukes. The move will be a logistical nightmare but I've been working on it. Till then...counting the days to WB/Hybrid action. BTW, from what I hear, the Crappie have been holding to submerged brushpiles VERY well in the main Lake. Also, some Hybrids have been schooling. Heading to Gibbons Fri. for some big Blue cat action Hopefully, will give a report thereafter.
