If the head at the top has a bolt in it then take the head off and turn it the other way then yes cut it to what you want and drill a new hole. When I worked on my old motor I found that the shaft is plastic yes plastic I was sure that it was metal pipe. Anyway I could easily shorten it if I wanted you just have to find a place for 6" of wire maybe place it in the head? if not cut the wire and put new ends on it or splice it.
I am sure that it can be done. If this was me Id do it.
What would help is that some one that has this TM could say yes the head will come off.
I think that you FFM should look at Ponder's TM and see if it bas a bolt at the head of the motor and if it can be changed to handle from the front to the back of the motor. if that is the case then one can remove the bolt cut the shaft not the wires and drill a new hole and put it back together.
If I need to I can post photos of mine.

If you want this size then yes you will do it.
Pay some one to do it then. There are guys that will do it for you.
Yes it is a new TM but not what you want. Mine is Old but if I was looking for a new one I am with you 45# but I would mod it for what my needs are. Yes no more warranty Oh well I say when is the last time you got a TM and had it fail? as in how old is yours? Mine is 20+years now.
And by cutting the shaft how is that going to damage the motor?
Just stick to what you can buy now just thought you could mod the thing as I have seen in the past with wheels for your boat and such.
Dont take this in a bad way I understand that you don't want to spend the $$ just to mod it but if you have needs they sometimes have to be modified to work for your needs.
I read this and I want to say I am not trying to attack you but want you to look at the fact that I think you can cut the shaft to your needs.

I am going to cut it down when I buy it, I was just wondering if anyone else had cut down a new one. I took the head off my old one and know what I would have do to shorten it if I need too.

I have a pipe cutter and a sweet soidering iron to make it look like a professional job.

Heck, I think I will just cut down the TM I have now, it works for what I need it to do. I'm old and slow, so my TM should be.

Kolton said he had a new prop for me so it should have more power.

But ... it still bugs me that Dano can RAM my boat and then escape to a safe distance and I can't do nothing about it.

Nice boat Ash,

I almost bought that exact one myself. You get it from that very nice guy in Grapevine. Good looking boat and very nice guy who was selling it. I just couldnt swing it with my finance dept (the wife)!!!

Looks good and tight lines.

It was a nice guy in GV. I traded him a shotgun and a pistol. My wife couldn't complain because the bank account remained untouched.

no but it wasnt the fish it was the fisherman. I wasnt seriously fishing more of a test drive. I had my little one with me and she tangled her line in mine 3 times to the point i had to cut one of the lines. after the third time i put my pole up and just watched her fish. next trip i told her she sits in the very front seat. Sunday i am planning spending all day tied to a stump cluster that i found that cant help but hold fish. I talked to some guys out there and they said they are biting enough to keep them interested but not a block buster day. im worried that the creek is land locked.
