Fishing has been good and it has had it's bad days. Still in all the creeks, 3.5-4 ft under a cork has been best.

Nice job tarponfly

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Enjoyed our trip Carey, Brandon was pretty pleased with those fish, and his momma liked the pics!

Tip of the day: Set the hook, before the fish poops out the hook.

It's obvious to me that I don't know what in the hell I'm doing fishing in WRC because I've yet to catch crappie. Caught yellow bass and sandies, tree limbs, and even a nasty pair of underwear. But, it's been fun trying!

Cold weather makes me lazy and I start slowing down on doing chores.

Shad are super thick in WRC now so catching crappie is going to be harder now with the millions of thread fins and gizzards swimming by their face every second. best thing to use is a live thread fin. Big Blue Catfish (5-15 lbs) have followed them up the creeks along with some Flathead Catfish (3-10lbs). Stand upstream of a log jam and free line a shad to the log jam. U will loose a lot of gear but they are fun when you find a pod of them.

These crappie are reacting the air pressure more this year than ever. One min we are yanking them in every cast, then all you hear is crickets. You might be able to wait it out and see if the weather stables out or -just to home. In one of my spots you can see each individual crappie. We can swim a jig or free line a minnow to it, and they will just move out of the way. If they are not biting, they are not biting. But when they are biting, watching them flare their gills and suck in your jig or minnow, is greatness, due to the water is so clear. -got a bit dingy after the rain and snow.....

Some nice 13-14 inch sandies thrown in the bunch.

Some days we kill them, some days are slow, some days are crickets chirping. Just dont know till you try them out and get a jig in the water.

We will see what happens after the rain settles down and the front rolls through after this weekend.

If anyone is interested in splitting a trip with Carey please shoot me a pm. I'm off work for the next 4 days and would like to celebrate my birthday by catching some fish. Also if anyone already has a trip booked and wouldn't mind a tag-a-long please let me know. Thanks

Gone fishin', be back at dark-thirty!

Its almost that time of the year again folks. A few more weeks and the fun begins.

Already spooled a new line on my reel, and began stocking up on jigs and baits. Just itching to give it a go.
