Gary, my DX 784 C ML is the finest rod I own. It's my first big bait rod, and it's a classic. I want one of these..... Does anyone know if Oak Ridge will demo any of their Dobyns during your stay with them?...

We have three Dobyns demo rods available in the store, one from each of the product lines (Savvy, Champion, Champion Extreme). They're available anytime for demo use. Unfortunately, the DX 784 C ML isn't one of them. If memory serves, the demo rods are all 734s or 744s.

I have quite a few Dobyns rods because I like the different actions they have and the nice balance to them. They have all been great rods. Then I got a chance to see how well customer service is when I purchased a used one and USPS broke it during the shipping process and didn't care and weren't going to do anything about it. Gary fixed me up. He is fantastic to do business with although Mark Pack said that he out fishes Gary every time he comes down here to Fork. I don't know about all that. LOL
I had a trip with Mark Pack and used his Extreme 784 Carolina rigging that day. At the end of the day Mark said "I can tell you are going to get one of those, aren't you". I said Oh yea. I now have two of them. Fantastic C-rig rod but I also hear that people really love them for throwing football head jigs.

Them Dobyns sticks are good crappie rods as well. I fish dobyns exclusively and fish for crappie exclusively and the DX701 and Champ 701 and 681 will flat put some slabs in the boat! It has been a long time Gary, I hope all is well in Cali....... and Merry Christmas to you and the entire Dobyns family!
Good Fishin

John +1, I started with a pair of Champion 702SF's and have graduated to DX701SF's and DX742SF's. Too much money for a crappie rod? Maybe but I like 'em!

Where are these rods made?
I have heard Korea or China?
Does they make their own blanks?

Got my first Dobyns this year and I love it. Planning on at least a couple more.
