Managed to get on the water for a little bit thsi morning & headed to the sssl. As figured, it was pretty packed. 1st ramp was filled up with no place to park. Kinda wanted to go back home, but since I was already there launched from the 2nd ramp & motored up the creek. Fished my usual 2 spots & only manged 6 keepers, a baby snapping turtle, a sandie & 2 LMB's. Got off the water by noon.

The 6 keepers

The turtle. Snagged him on his right hind leg some how

Heard they were biting yesterday from the other people I spoke with today. Pretty much everyone was catching.

I try not to fish weekends due the crowds, but sometimes I do. I'll let you know next time I go on a weekend.

Good day at the creek managed 19 keepers. Thought I had 20, but missed counted. Kinda hard to keep count when they were the bite was on fire! Must've caught over 60 fish total. There were a lot that were just shy of 10 inches that I had to weed through, but the action was pretty nonstop when I found them. Got there just as the gates were being opened. Temp was around 30 something, but it warmed up pretty quick. 1st stop was a BP vertical jigging & BAM!!! 1st keeper of the day. Dropped my white/chartreuse jig on a 1/8 oz hot pink jig head & BAM another big thump, but lost it on the side of my mad river. Dropped my jig in again, but this time snag city bang since I use braided lines, I shook the BP & spooked off the rest of the crappie. Next stop, jig/bobber 1st cast snag. 2nd cast snag. 3rd cast snag. 4th cast yet another snag. At this point I was thinking it was gonna be one of those days. Didn't know why I was getting snags fishing shallow. Gave up on spot #2. Spot #3 produced nothing but perch. Put a few on the stringer along with the 1 keeper crappie I caught from spot #1. Decided to go further up the creek to spot #4, but along the way I see a "fishy" spot. Cast to it & a dink. Cast into it again another dink. Next cast, into the tree branch above my head....grrrr bang Luckily got it untangled without get wet. Made another cast & see my bobber disappear set the hook, but missed & got my line all tangled up around the tip of my rod.In frustration, I didn't even bother trying to untangle it. Whipped out my Swiss army knife & commence to cutting. After a few choice words & a cig I retied & made yet another cast into the new spot and I found a new honey hole!!! After pulling dinks out, it finally produced! Caught about 11 keepers from that new spot. The other 7 keepers were caught at various spots that looked "fishy". Lost a lot of 1/16 oz jig heads & white/chartreuse jigs today, but had a pretty good day. !9 keeper crappie & 5 perch.

Far from being a yoda. Just dumb luck like being in the right place at the right time is all.

After unloading my canoe I moved my tackle bag & heard a SNAP!. Yep, you guessed I broke the tip of one brand new rod before even hitting the water. Wasn't expensive, so no worries & still had 2nd rod. Got to 1st spot dropped my 1/8oz white/chartreuse & THUMP 1st keeper! Dropped it in the same spot another THUMP 2nd keeper. 3rd drop another THUMP & missed it, but got snagged. As careful as I could to get unsnagged, I heard another SNAP! Yep, another broken tip on 2nd brand new rod Still no worries, another cheapo & still had the receipt. After the 2nd broken tip, sat there for a minute contemplating throwing in the towel & head back home with just 2 keepers. Since spot #2 was pretty close, decided to give it a try with the broken rods. 1st cast with a few pops of the bobber caught another keeper. Then decided the broken tips wasn't much of a hinderance & stayed a while longer.

14 keepers & a gizzard shad. The shad will be bait for the cat fish outing this weekend. Shads are showing up at the sssssl now if anyone is looking for cat fish bait.

Where is this SSSSl thats holding 12" shad???Not the actual spot just the details of where the shad were holding, so I can apply to "my" local creek cool
how deep, how far from the mainlake, and rock or muddy bottom?
