What’s the best Knot? and how often do you re-tie?

Floro?
Braid?
Mono?

I tie a Palomar knot with Seaguar InvizX and it seems to work. actully with all three lines.

I like the San Diego Jam. I tie whenever I feel nicks in it.

San Diego jam looks like a reverse Cinch knot? does it keep getting tighter?

Lots of people don't like the Palomar with flouro. I've used it for years with monofiliment but when I started using it with flour. I had lots of broken knots. I always wet them down, and I know how to tie them. I switched to the san diego jam knot with flour. and that solved the problem. Re tie if you feel or see nicks.

Floro-Palomar, Braid-palomar, Mono-clinch. Wet both the floro and the mono down while pulling tight!

Fluoro - I use a Palomar, but use need to ensure you tie it correctly as well as wet it while drawing tight. For certain apps like spinnerbaits, Ill use cinch knot.

Mono - I will use a Palomar.

Braid - Palomar is known to slip on Braid, so I'll add a granny knot over the top of the Palomar.

For tying leaders, I use the improved Albright. Smaller, stronger and smoother going through the guides than the uni.

In my opinion, the San Diego Jam is best for Floro, the double polomar with Braid, and the polamar with Mono.

Palomar. Feel the line after each fish. Rety as necessary. I've gone 7-8 fish with P line 100%. It's the most abrasion resistant FC. It does have more memory and an FZ1 skill level is required to handle the memory.

I tie different knots depending on what bait I'm throwing. With that being said, I tie a Palomar knot for the most part. I usually check my line every 15-20 casts and I always check it after I catch a fish.

+1

When you tie a Palomar knot the double line MUST be side by side and not crossed in an X pattern or the fluorocarbon WILL break. That is why so many people have problems with it and fluorocarbon line, the knot is tied incorrectly. Mono and co-polymer lines are more forgiving if tied incorrectly. Fluorocarbon is not forgiving and it will break. Tie it correctly and it will work just fine.

The SanDiego Jam knot is another good one for fluorocarbon if you just can't tie a Palomar correctly.

I also tie a double reverse clinch knot. Alton did a Youtube video showing a knot he uses to tie on a spinner bait. I do that knot but with a double line. It is VERY strong.
