Why does Lowrance not market Insight to Humminbird or Garmin owners??? Same reason Johnson Outdoors owns Humminbird and LakeMaster they want their own company to guarantee mapping for their companies. Just like Garmin has their own mapping.

Here are a couple other thoughts... why would Lowrance want to offer their internal operation software and hardware to LakeMaster when they are sister company to Humminbird so they learn what their mapping techniques and secrets are. Humminbird isn't going to allow access to their internals for Lowrance so they see how they operate.

LakeMaster and Humminbird have always had extra Exclusive Features that are Patent Pending Features that only Humminbird and LakeMaster can have.

To me it's good for Humminbird because they can sell more units for those that want the LakeMaster Maps...and it's working. Just like 360 Imaging Humminbird isn't going to give that feature to another Electronics Company. It's an exclusive feature for Humminbird to offer LakeMaster. Cool thing is You can use LakeMaster and Navionics in only one unit...that's a Humminbird. Humminbird owners have the best choices in mapping today. Just like Humminbird has the best sonar especially imaging technology today. And now they are the only company you can link the MinnKota Terrova or Power Drive V2 to the Humminbird and LakeMaster for GPS Assisted Guidance of the Trolling Motor. Lots of exciting things coming from Johnson Outdoors and now combining the resources of all 3 companies engineers as a team of engineers to bring even more exciting products in the future.

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate the image comparisons. I already have the Gold and have been using it. The Platinum is really impressive. I may have to go for both the Platinum and the LakeMaster. Thanks again. I'll save the images and study on it some.

if you need a map to see that there is a giant sand bar there, you probably shouldnt even own a boat (or at least name it SS Googan). although Sea Tow and Boat US captains may disagree to keep their jobs.

Level water offset is helpful but still need to update your map and keep the latest data. overlays, features, and directions (in this case not to hit the bar). Data is only as good as the most recent time it was gathered. Make sure on Navionics you update with Freshest Data and if the contouring is out of date and hasnt been surveyed in a while (either Lakemaster or Navionics) the SonarChart feature can give you the latest as of 24 hours ago. See video below. This will be available from Navionics in the coming month new product launch. new one foot contours in 24 hours on Humminbird

Fishalert, there are two charts in Florida for Platinum. If you need help on which one to choose let me know so I make sure you get the right one. if you are only doing Inshore grab the MSD/632P+. if offshore past 50 miles, I need to suggest a different one but based on where you are giving locations, I doubt you need that. just be sure to register it on the Navionics website if you decide to get that chart within 60 days so you get Freshest Data and the Sonarchart launch. Any questions on where to access features feel free to ask. Either decision, just go catch some fish!

Paul,
I have the a Humminbird 1198 with the newer Navionics, the Android app, and the Navionics PC. Once thing I am frustrated with is the PC and Android App will show creek channels in lake Fork for example, I set save waypoints marking the creeks I want to hit, put them on my graph then head to the lake then notice my just updated Navionics chip, updated at the same time my Navionics PC maps were updated, does not have the majority of the small feeder creeks that the PC and Android maps do.

So.... I beg to differ on your statement: 'Get the same chart as what you bought free for your laptop. same detail"

I have not checked this on a Lowrance, but why on earth is there a difference in what is provided?

Doug,
Do you have an idea when Lakemaster will release version 3 for Texas/Oklahoma and if so, what new HD lakes will be added?

Thanks.

Doug, I understand that around Jan timeframe there is going to be a new LakeMaster chip available that you have to have to use iPilotLink, 1198, Terrova, 788 all etherneted together for full features. And I understand if you have the current LakeMaster chip it will not support all the new stuff. Is this correct
and eitherway, do you have a release date for it yet?
And might as well ask if you have a release date for iPilotLink
for my new Terrova too?

Okie Bob: very odd. doesnt make much sense. All three should be exactly the same. They all use the same file set so there should be no difference at all on them. In fact usually the chart shows more than the PC App. Can you give me a lat/long to take a look at?

Shouldnt have anything to do with the Humminbird. that'll show all the detail.

As you mentioned the chart you are using is a recent chart and updated on Freshest Data correct?

I really like my lakemaster chips on my bird. They(lakemaster and navionics) both have their strongpoints and "holes" so to speak. I'll get the navionics chip soon to get the best of both worlds as stated several times earlier in this thread. If you get a chip that turns out to not work well for you personally its not as big of a problem as say buying a high end graph and it not working out. I enjoy the nice peaceful dialogue here at the end vs the political like mudslinging that was earlier in this thread.

Yes the NEW 2013 LakeMaster Charts will be iPilot Link Compatible to enable you to use the Follow the Contour or Follow the bank with offset features that all the Terrova Trolling Motor to be controlled via the LakeMaster Chart in the Ethernet Comapible Humminbird Unit.

Not sure on Release Dates but I heard somewhere around the first of the Year. I will be sure to announce here when they are released.

I've got some video footage that I got to test these new features that last several days and as soon as I can get edited will be adding to my YouTube Channel.

Doug,
Do you have some compairisons of the LakeMaster and Navionics on Squaw Creek. I have the older navionics 09 chip and am not impressed, its not even close on this lake. Numerous e-mails with navionics has has got me no where on when they will update this lake. I do like some of the other mapping on other lakes with the navionics but does me no good on this one.
