So what are your thoughts.

Deep cranks are hard to throw all day long and I usually get tired of them quickly!!

+1 with the right set up DD22s are not that bad I used to hate throwing them until I got a rod and reel for it

Love deep cranks but I've had good results slow rolling 1oz SB's too. Use both and cover all the bases

I agree with the change of equipment, but also that it's not one or the other. They both have their spots and both catch big fish, but I can cover more water with the DD22.

Dd22. What does that stand for?

And what type or set up is best for it?

Or better yet a 3.8:1 gear ratio. I just scored an older curado that combined with a deep crank rod made cranking dd22's easy on this older body.

Don't need the deep spinner baits then lol.

So I hear from a friend that the longer the rod the better.

I'm thinking of getting a 7'6 heavy for Carolina rigs. Should I go the same length for dd22 or get 7'11"

Dobyns make sweet rods. But get a BPS 7'10" cranking stick pretty cheap and they cast a mile are not to heavy. Im a fishing rod nut and love all my expensive rods. But why spend 200$ on a rod that you dont need allot of sensitivity? i have had mine for over a year and still work great glass or composite is the way to go. I loose very few fish with these rods. Pair it with a winch, curado or chronarch in a 5:0:1 ratio and you will be set.

I got a st croix mojo bass glass cranking rod 7'8" from tw and I'm happy with it. Didn't break the bank and feels good for my first deep cranking specific rod.

Get yourself a 7'10" swim bait rod and 5:1 old green Curado. You can throw either all day.

I prefer the Yamamotto 1 OZ white double willow spinner bait over the DD-22 but both have their place. Most of my DD fish have come on this spinner bait thrown in the middle of trees after letting it go to the bottom. I use the DD-22 'over' trees in deep water much like you would a swim bait.

Different uses, but both are good. Depends on the lake and the cover.

I just built a 9' rod specifically for throwing 1 and 1.5 oz spinnerbaits and strolling deep baits.

Havnt used it yet. I'm up for selling it if anyone wants it.
