On duck dynasty I saw Willie and jase with their sons selling catfish and carp. I know of the licenses I need to do it but what would be a fair price for the fish by the pound On the carcass & Filleted and frozen?

What's yalls problem? There was one reply that answered my question. In no way would I consider doing something illegal. And no dip I can't sell them till I catch them. I'm not retarded, I know how things work. Yea, it's a tv show, but I know other people do this in other states also. And where do you think the restaurants get their fish?

From Commercial fisherman who pay alot of $$$$$ for licenses & permits. All states that I ever heard of have laws against selling fish, unless of course you are an above mentioned Commercial Fisherman. I believe that is why you received that response............

Follow your dreams.

Do some research on other local suppliers figure out their rate.

If you can profit while being competitive then try to find retailers.

Be careful with licensing, if I remember you will need both a collection permit a resale permits and at least one other permit for commercial fish collection or commercial resale.

Figure with licensing your out between $750.00 to 1000 bucks a year.

You will also need a DBA and of course all the fees and extras that go with running your own business.

Trying to be as helpful as I can while still giving helpful information. I know people on here have a tendency to shoot down the start ups because everyday they see more and more but If your serious they won't stop you and later they may just be eating your fish!!!!

If im not mistaken all fish, meat, poultry must be fda inspected also before you sell it for consumption.

It is amazing the responses people will give when someone asks a simple question. Following is an example and probably not an exaggeration:

Question - Is Cabelas a good place to buy a handgun?

Answer 1 - You know have to pay for it, you are not allowed to steal it.

Answer 2 - You know you can't buy a gun and then go back into store and starting shooting at people.

Answer 3 - You have to pass a background check.

Answer 4 - If you stick the gun in your mouth and pull the trigger that could hurt you.

Answer 5 - You can't go to the lake and shoot fish with it cause that is illegal.

Answer 6 - You have to go to Cabelas to buy one, you can't buy a firearm from Cabelas if you are in Walgreens.

Why not just give the person the answer they are looking for and if you don't know then don't give an answer?

Thanks, I sent tpwd a email asking what liscenses me and my cousin needed to catch and sell catfish to restaurants and such. This was the reply I got

"To sell freshwater catfish you must possess a non-game fish permit
($60), contact inland fisheries at (512)389-4444 for an application and
requirements, and a general commercial fisherman's license (Type 372,
$26). �You will have to check with the individuals that issue the
non-game fish permits, but I believe you may list a fisherman that may
assist you provided they are under your direct supervision. �You and
your cousin would both be required to possess the general commercial
fisherman's license. �If you intend to use a boat you would also need to
purchase a commercial fishing boat license as well (Type 304, $27)."

That's why I was asking for a price per pound.

If you're trying to sell to a restaurant, they'll probably want to pay something like $2-$3 per pound
