The academy reels are designed off the shimano bantams. They are fine reels and for the price on sale can not be beat. As far as rods go, 99% of rods breaking are USER error. The blue h20s are better then the allstar classics and green castaways. If u compare features and stats they actually compare favorably to rods in the $80-$100 price range.
and they are plenty big enough for throwing lures at trout/reds flounder. u can easily fit over 100 yards of 20lb braid.
