The extra money is to rebuild the fish hatchery at Athens and modernize the others. Not a general fund. I'm ok with the increase. ------------------ Ed

See page 70 in the Jan. Texas Fish & Game and page 82 in Feb. I don't think they know where all of the money went.

I don't care. It is still a cheaper hobby for me than any other. Try picking up golf. Green fees will kill you. Racing? Good luck. Dirtbikes? Maybe...but you still got to find a place to ride. R/C Planes? $100 per year. Fishing is still cheaper than most hobbies out there. I also doubt that there is a drop in licnense purchases. We have all been to the lake and we see the number of boaters out there. I remember when I could go to Fork or Ray Bob to fish during the week and never see a single boater all day. You cannot tell me that licenses have dropped off. If that is true then there are alot of illegal fisherman out there. I don't care where they spend the money...as long as I can fish. F_H
Glad to have taken..."the trash in the back!"

What a load of **** ! Trust me, Austin will find a way to screw us on this one too! Like being the only state in the 50 with a "Freshwater Fishing Stamp".
Let me guess.....These morons will change up the printing paper again and leave it up to their fellow idiots in crime at Wal-Mart to make sure the right paper is in the printer.
Yeah, right! We saw what happened last time! Hundreds of folks received tickets for having the "wrong license" all due to Wal-Mart's (and other idiot retailers) mistake...not the license holder. Almost seems like a set up to screw people! Can you believe they fined the license holders? How about some scene control on your vendors for the love of God! You let them issue the license and leave it up to the customer to fix the retailer's mistake??!!
Those idiots in Austin couldn't find their butts with a road map! Everyone grab your ankles....it's that time again!

JUST TO FISH EVEN THOUGH I DON'T FISH TROUT? OR IS THE STAMP JUST A NAME CHANGE FROM TROUT TO FRESH WATER ? Yes lovin....this is correct! Just to fish you'll have to purchase a freshwater fishing stamp!!!! Im currently writing a story on this very issue to be published...I'll get you my stats very soon! We're in the top 10 as far as fishing license fees go! Austin has us by the nadds!

Ed and Hawk, If you guys want this increase...so be it. But when it comes to me...they'd at least better spring for the KY! Follow TP&W blindly without research? WOW, no offense...but isn't that a little sheepish?

This tag isn't required if you have a lifetime license is it? According to the TP&W Web site, "The lifetime license exempts the holder from state stamp endorsement requirements." I would guess this would include the freshwater fishing stamp. Now granted it's $600 for a liftime fishing license but we all know the price of an annual fishing license is never going to go down and at this rate the lifetime license might be the best option.

Bottom line for me is "What the heck do I get for my money"? Do I see the improvements of more fish being added to the lakes? Better facilities, docks, ramps, bathrooms, camping areas, what? Do I see more rangers fining those violators who keep all the fish they catch right down to the minnow they think is a meal? Violators who think the trash can is any place they feel they can throw their used S**T! Facilities that are sub par that you have to have a chem suit to go in. I may grumble about the prices going up but if you show me why and am I benefiting from the increase then I will do it. But by damn it better be for a benefit and not to get some agency out of the whole because of some moron who abused his position and screwed up!

EVV,
You're right on the money!
Lovin:
I'll keep you in mind when it's all wraped up! I'm a freelance writer and photographer. I'm still looking to sell the story but it shouldn't be a problem. So far, so good! I've had interest from at least 2 mags thus far.
