No problem @Cleve
Fish, bait, prop wash it could be a number of things. I have used side scan in 6 ft, down scan is just like 2d sonar so you should be able to use it as long as there is water. @allen ehlers

I have 2 HDS 5 gen 1s and LSS gen 1, I can not get power to. I have tried connecting the yellow wire to both units at the same time, then each unit seperately, and directly to the battery. I hooked up the new unit and it picked up that structure scan was connected but i dont know if it has to be on for the hds unit to detect it. Last time on the water it was on then cut off and the unit said "No Source" I thought it was the battery. i charged the battery to full and I hooked up my unit in the front of the boat and i cant get the LSS to come on at all no lights or anything. Both units say " No Source" and if i go down in the settings to select source and i have no option to select anything its just highlighted dark and doesnt let you select anything. I have a camping trip on the 19th so im trying to get everything right before i go.
Thanx, JJ

DJ, if you have the yellow wire from the LSS connected to the HDS unit, then the HDS unit must be on for the LSS to power up. The other thing is that if its only connected to one (1) HDS unit and you turn that particular unit off, it will shut the LSS down and you will not have a LSS reading on the other unit. So i would say connect both yellow wires from the HDS 5's to the yellow wire at the LSS. That way you can turn one unit off and still have the LSS on.

Nice shots ND5T!! How deep is this? That thing looks LOADED with crappie but if im reading that 47' deep right that looks a tad too deep for crappie to be hanging out. Maybe shad or white bass?

I think they are whites from about 20-30' the bottom is 50'. The area is known for whites so this is what I believe them to be, but as I said this is my first time with the LS1 so I could be wrong and it is just bait fish (shad) I caught the one in the picture a couple of days before I did the scan so Catfish is what I had on my mind

I was on the water yesterday drifting, my hds 5 gen 1 started reading 2ft of water structure scan was reading 26 I know the spot we were in is 26 ft of water. I adjusted color line and sensitivity and still reads 2 ft of water can't get it to read anything else. Any one have this same problem? Thanx, JJ

Dj here might be your answer. Question for you guys. Saturday I was on the lake and my sturcture scan was reading out 2.9' or 3' everywhere I went but was picking up the bottom around 18'. The 2d sonar was picking up the bottom right as well at 18'. Iv had this problem once or twice in the past and just turned the unit off and back on it it was fine but saturday it didnt fix this. Anyone know whats going on and what I need to do?
Thanks Anyone? Is this with the downscan?? Next time out check to see if it's (downscan) in auto mode if so, take it out of auto and see if that corrects it.

I have a HSD 7 my question is when I driving down the lake and the trail is marking the boats path if I turn into a cove the trail will cut the corner across the point and NOT follow where the boat actually traveled - This is a problem if I'm trying to stay in a creek channel and return back out on the same trail - I am confused on how to correct this

Check the trail settings on how often it is updating Under Advanced you can set distance for updates under logging type you can set it to update every ?? feet for when you need more precision on the trails From My Downloaded book
Trails Controls the way trails are logged (updated). Trails mark your movement as you travel, placing points along your path using one of three logging types: Time, Distance or Auto. You can save up to 10 trails with up to 9,999 points per trail. If a trail exceeds 9,999 points, each new point will overwrite a point at the beginning of the trail. Logging Type Controls the method used for updating a trail. Trails can be updated using Time, Distance or the default automatic setting. Logging Types Time A point is placed along the trail after a selected amount of time Distance A point is placed along the trail after you travel a selected distance Auto A point is placed along the trail every time you change direction To select a Logging Type: 1. Highlight Logging Type on the Trails menu and press enter. 2. Use the keypad to select Auto, Distance or Time and press enter. Distance Period Controls how far you will travel before a point is placed along the trail. To set Distance period: 1. Highlight Distance Period and press enter. The distance period keypad will appear. 2. Input the desired distance and select OK. Press enter.

I have a Eagle 245d8. It looks identical to a Lowrance X-Pro that sells for 99.95. It shows depth well, but it does not seem to show structure or fish very well. Is there a fishfinder that I can buy for maybe $300 that would give me better detail, etc. After looking at all of these graphs, I realize I am missing a lot. I fish from a canoe. Thanks

Does anyone else think that the actual 2d sonar on these HDS units is not up to par? I've never had suck bad quality come from a Lowrance unit. Could be my settings, could be my transducer I guess. I've got the 83/200 skimmer transducer. I very rarely get any arches and it doesn't work near as good as my HB 798 does. I've got the gen 1 10 with insight.

might also check and see if you have entered the number/type of transducer in your settings. if its on generic or unknown it makes a big difference on the sonar readings
