As the weather cools down, I plan on doing some overnighters on the lake in my cuddy cabin. I am usually out there alone and I nap with the door and top hatch open in the cabin to circulate the air. What are the chances of waking up with a water moccasin in the bed with me if I anchor near shore and sleep all night????? Im considering rigging up some screen to cover the hatches.

I'd say you have a better chance winning the lottery twice.

Throw a few moth balls in there. They won't come near you.

i have never had a snake crawl into the boat while it was anchored. it is always possible if you are having bad luck though. i have had a snake fall into a boat while running limb lines on the river.
REDNECK, and proud of it.

I'd say chances are much better to have a boat full of bugs or even people who are up to no good.

The first thing you do is if you wake up with one is to stay calm. He did not crawl in to eat you just to snuggle in some place warm. But your chance of having that happen is slim.

I would not be worried about a snake. Screens might be a good idea for the bugs though.

I got lucky once on Texoma. My wife sat down and crushed one that was in between the seat bottom and the fiberglass. First of all I was lucky she got up that morning to fish which she almost never does. Second I got lucky that it was in a postion to get crushed. I cannot imagine havint that thing crawl out my ny feet. I found it a week later when looking for the smell of something dead. That was in bass boat I do not think they can get in your boat.
