addicted2fishing, not sure if you were asking me, but I used 17# stren back then. The ex still has a picture of that day's catch, the big one stood out like a sore thumb even with a bunch of 4#+ flounders all around it.
It is still the biggest flounder I have actually seen.
4 adults ate on it for two days.
The other rigs it had in it's stomach were bit off well above the hook, so both the hooks and 1 oz weights were in it, and it still came back for more.

My biggest is a MEASLY 16 inches lol slowly but surely.

Smoked it slow over mesquite and it fed 3 adults and 2 kids.

Fishing out of Port Mansfield, middle of August, for whatever reason the tides were XXXtra low, ran into this small cut of hard sand surrounded by matted grass. Grass was a little more than ankle deep, the cut was about thigh deep.

Had the whole tribe with me, dad, brother, hen, uncle and two cousins. It was the biggest gathering of huge flounder I've ever seen, or really ever heard of. We waded the cut, pretty much side by side, and the battle was on.

Pumpkin sand eels were the preferred weapon, when we got to the end, we had 60 flounder, three over ten, ten over eight pounds. Dad lost one that would have eaten one of the tens, that fish kicked his tail as good as any scrape I've ever seen. It wouldn't come close to fitting in his net, it swam between his legs twice, and jumped like a tarpon before it finally came unhitched. Just an amazing morning, one for the permanent memory bank for sure.

where was this caught ?

its was big but the texas record is 13 pounds caught in sabine pass
