I don't hear as much about G. Loomis rods these days. Seems like theirs used to be the top rod to own. I always wished I could afford a GLX model. Nowadays, the top brands mentioned are likely to be Dobyns and Falcon. Is the (fairly) new Loomis NRX just too expensive? Do the other makers now have better products? Is it quality? Just curious about this.

all TFO rods are made by loomis. TFO rods are the same as g loomis rods and have the same feel if not better. Best rods out there in my opinion!

GLoomis was bought by Shimano a few years back. TFO rods were designed by Gary Loomis but I don't think he owns TFO or has anything to do with making the rods.

I have always been a fan of Falcons. For the money the Lowriders cant be beat. I would however love to have one of the Loomis NRX. I'm just too cheap to shell out that kind of cash on a rod.

Go with Power Tackle, best rod on the market now. Great Rod but not so great warranty Nothing wrong with there warranty. They just don't want to pay for every rod that was broke by rod locker, car door, stepping on them and so on b/c we all know its not the fishermans fault. Unlike Walmart and Academy they cost alittle more to build and don't give them away. You will soon see all rod company's will follow with the same.

There is nothing wrong with Loomis rods. They are the standard to which all other rods are compared. Not everyone can afford one of their high end rods. There are very few pro-staff members to pimp Loomis rods on this forum. The people you hear ( not all but most ) that are pushing products on this forum have some affiliation with the company they are promoting. They will get a discount on the products they promote. For this reason their opinions are not always 100% accurate. Unless you have used every rod out there how can you say that you know for a fact that XYZ brand is the best? I have fished with 3 rod brands over the last 12 years, G. Loomis, Dobyns and Powell. Of those three I like the Loomis the best. Just my .02 worth.

TFO rods are designed by Gary Loomis who originally started G loomis. I'm sure he can't make them the way gloomis did when he was there due to patent junk. Thats about as close to loomis that TFO rods get. I have a NRX and love it, can't wait to get another and some of the new GLX sticks.

Go up north and see if you see more Loomis or Dobyns.
You know the old saying
If it floats, flys, or f___s it is always cheaper to rent!
You have to decide which is more important.
