The orange Yak is my brothers sea yak. He's the lake superior Yak nut. That is him in the canoe in front of ice cliff. When doing his big trip once a year he is gone for 3 weeks. Carries aprox. 350 pounds of gear, food, and old guy toys, He heads to Isle royal national park. 2 ships leave transporting humans and their gear. One big ship (longer trip a day)from Houghton in Houghton county and the other one a smaller ship leaves from copper harbor ((half day trip). Its an exciting yak/canoe/hiking/fishing/camping adventure. No automobiles permitted. no cell phone, puters, or communication devices. he will circle the island on that trip. He will paddle that heavy loaded yak frequently a 100 to 150 miles in high winds, freezing cold water, rain or shine. If he is not on that return ship 21 days later , rule is don't even bother looking for him until he has been gone for at least 24 days. ITS A PRETTY GUTSY YAK TRIP< We would love to see a few of these Texas yak pros give that ISLE ROYAL NATIONAL PARK adventure a go around. The white water rivers, inland lakes, and of course them big Lake Superior rolling waves excitement in abundance, THE FISHING and WILDERNESS PHENOMONS ARE JUST A LIL MORE ADDED EXCITEMENT. Cool eh! :-) COOL LINK MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES May fishing report for week of may 23. http://content.govdelivery.com/bulletins/gd/MIDNR-7c3d9c . for ya'll serious readers types good link info on canoe/yaking isle royal. http://www.isle.royale.national-park.com/boat.htm >>> MORE READING OLD ARTICAL FROM 2001 PADDLING.NET. http://www.paddling.net/places/showReport.html?262 hOPE YALL ENJOY.

When planning your spring trips to trout spawning runs, the best action will be after ice out and before the SUCKERS Migrate up them rivers. Ask your river fishing friends if them suckers are in the rivers that you plan on fishing. If they are might want to consider another river.

Good time to Plan or ponder a group fishin trip this Fall within the first 3 weeks of October. Salmon, Rainbows, browns, ect all spawning at this time. Northerns, walleye, smallies ect all gorging themselves for winter. Great fishing, yaking, exploring, hunting, camping, colored leaves, ect ect.

A few weeks ago my bro did Isle Royal again. lot of high winds But he still got plenty of paddling time in. He said he was dragging some kind of a lure behind most of that paddlin time. No Bites. Last year I left him some big lures just for that type of trolling. Any suggestions.
