I currently own and use, a Falcon Cara weightless worm, mainly for tubes, and is a very good solid rod and love it.
Also have a DX 745 wich is a 7'4" 3/8- 1 1/2 oz MagHvy for my C-rigs and man!!! what a rod, well balanced and very good sensivity, can throw my c-rig all day with out getting too tired; for me the weight issue is all about a well balanced rod, and balance in MHO is what dobyns excels at.
May the Force be with you.

Falcon: cheaper and just as lite. I heard all of the hype on the forum about Dobyns on and went in to buy one of the champ series. When I picked one up I couldn't see much difference between a low rider and the champ series. Damn sure not $200 dollars worth.

To directly answer your question: I believe the Cara is the lightest. Overall preference would be up to you. Personally, I love the feel of the Caras.

Pay someone $6 per day, and sell them for 200 bucks each. I am so feed up with so much work being sent over to China, and almost everything I pick up these days say "Made in CHina"

I have both and like them both. I do however much prefer the Dobyn's warranty. Lifetime limited warranty and 60 bucks to get a replacement no matter what, even if you slam it in a car door.

I have both and love them both. Try them out with the reel you will use and make a choice you will not be disappointed. I have carpal tunnel so the balance and weight of my setups is important. these are the ones I use the most. Hardly any stress on my wrist.

I'm ordering the rods online, so I wont be able to do a comparison. I own 6 different models of Falcon Cara's but not the Amistad. When you say these, which are you talking about? Dobyns or Falcon

Which rod is the lightest?
I cant decide between a Falcon Cara Amistad Rod Action H Lure Weight 1/2 to 1 1/2 oz Rod Length (feet) 7' 3" Handle (inches) Split
or a Dobyns Champion 704c
I own several Falcon Caras and love them, and also own a couple of Savvy's and a Champion 766flip. All my Dobyns rod are significantly heavier in weight it seems when compared to my Caras. Anybody know where I can find the actual weight of the rods? The Cara will be lighter than the Dobyns. That cannot be denied. (or it would have already happened by the pro staffers !!!) Actually im not sure as we dont weigh them, but i can get a champion 734c weighed and let you know....

a balanced rod makes alot more difference then what it weighs,by that if a rod is tip heavy your constantly having to put force on your wrist to hold it up,so naturally the rod feels heavier,a balanced rod can actually weigh more but put less fatigue on your wrist so it feels lighter.....

True but he didn't ask which was better balanced, he asked which one was lighter and I simply answered his question unlike pretty much everyone else in this thread. Not pointed at you specifically Stan but just asking myself out loud ....................... Whatever happened to the days where a person could get on here and ask a question and just simply get the answer without having to wade through sales pitches and comments about everything else OTHER than the guys question ? I mean look at this thread as a prime example. The guy asks which one is lighter and out of 30 responses, maybe 4 or 5 of them actually answer his question. The rest are talking about how great this one is or that one is and where this one is made and where that was is made or how this one mentioned before isn't really a flipping stick and blah blah blah sales pitch sales pitch sales pitch. What the hell has this board become other than one big sales pitch ? Let me let ya'll in on a little secret. These incessant sales pitches do your product more harm than good when it becomes overload. I know that personally, I will not purchase certain products because of the guerilla marketing techniques used by that company on this board. Just a little FYI to the pro staffers. Back off a little bit and try to be helpful to people instead of trying to constantly sell them something. It will be better for you in the long run.
