JV that is a lot of great and true information! People write fishing articles that aren't that descriptive. Have you ever considered guiding? That was a joke! There are only two kinds of fishermen that know that much. Guides and those that put in the time and effort. Put in the time and effort and follow John's advice and catch more fish. Or don't and don't! Great write up...

Had the privilege to have Terry ( blue tuna) and Frank ( fishboy Frank ) on my boat this afternoon I noticed the other evening that we had a good full moon and figured the mid day and late afternoon bite would be good ... Well , it was better than good it was great started out in deep water and called up a few fish , missed more than we caught found fish in a few spots but just not feeding .. We would get pecked and pick up one but the screen looked better than the catching ... I kept my eye out in a few areas I like this time of the year and what did i see .... Chaos , complete chaos he hauled [censored] over there and huge explosions I started throwing 4 inch Nanner sassy shad and HOOKED UP !!!!! The other guys quickly took off the slabs and tied on plastics it is late fall early winter friends ... Tie on the plastics !!!! When you would see the explosions as soon as the sassy shad hit the water I would start reeling fairly fast and BAM !!! If all I seen was birds then I would throw and let it sink to the bottom and do a medium retrieve .... That was the ticket for almost 2 hours ... 1 whites bass caught in that group and nothing but hybrids ... Some you would have to measure , some that needed the net and a whole bunch keepers . If you fish this time of year keep your binoculars handy and if you find them deep or shallow , chunk and wind a couple fish caught on godfather slabs in the 1.5 oz and mostly all where caught with 3/4 oz jig heads and 4 inch Nanner sassy shad from www.moestackleshop.com in 21-33 ft water ... Winds were 15-20 S and water temps were 57 degrees .... Terry and Frank , thank you guys for all that you do for the RHSA and everybody you guys help ... Good people right there

JV- No thank you! It's no secret I put in a lot of hours at work. When you called I didn't care if I had to tell people was going to get my appendix out was going fishing. Man tonight was insane. Finally birds working for real and not just chasing bait... But of all of my time on Hubbard have never seen this many birds working. It had to be a thousand birds. I even hooked one bird but he got free. When we first pulled up to the hot spot JV looked to see if there were any splashes. I mentioned to Terry that has to be fish pushing that bait up. I couldn't wait and threw a slab at them! Bam a hybrid. Two seconds later like JV said splashes erupted everywhere. There are a ton of birds on Hubbard right now that are just lounging. JV saw these birds through his binoculars and they weren't lounging- they were working! It was a massive school of hybrids and no sandbass. It lasted close to two hours. This was one special day that's for sure. One I won't soon forget. We were blessed. JV has logs and charts like I always mention having kept mine for 25-years. It was the full moon, windy, cloudy, star fishing day on the charts. Everything was lined up for an event like this. We had to have caught over a (100) hybrids. Every single fish thrown back. But persistence by JV paid off. It was on tonight... Thanks JV.

We had the lake to ourselves the fishing was nitpicking for a bit, but persistence won out and it was fish on exploding up under the shad and then going a bit deeper and moving around in circles and back on the attack again. Good size hybrids, all fish were hooked clean and all fish released. With the exception of couple of sand bass it was all hybrids. Just a little slime on JV's boat. Thanks JV you put us on the fish big time. One of those memory makers.
