I too use PVC but replaced the rebar with angle iron that way it doesn't bend so much.

12" PVC
4' Angle Iron/Rebar
2x hose clamps or duct tape if in a hurry!!!
-------------------------------------------------
= instant rod holder in about 2 minutes, takes longer to buy the items.

PVC, Rebar, ductape.

Step on one of those hose clamps at night and you'll be using ductape also. Pretty nasty cut.

I use Go-rilla tape. little bit stronger than duct tape and has held up longer than duct tape usually does.

I switched from hose clamps to duct tape this year and I'm very happy with them. Caught plenty of fish on them and they have been rained on and gotten muddy and still holding strong. And the best part is they are cheap so I can throw more money in my boat lol
