Doug R they launch us at the ramps. They put the two anglers in the boat and a soldier backs the boat in to the water and the soldier parks the trailer and keep the keys. At the end of the day they radio-in after you check-in at the pontoon boat and another soldier backs the trailer down for loading. Neither angler has to get in or out of the boat for launching or loading. It will only be a problem if there are 4 foot swells rolling directly into the ramp. If that is the forecast for Sunday, I'm sure they will talk through other options to keep everyone safe. This is the 4th year on Hubbard, the 3rd out of that ramp, and so far it has been very orderly and safe. The worse situation was our first year launching at Chandler's and weighing in at Bass Pro - getting back to the ramp during strong south wind on Sunday.

Doug, you are right with winds out of the north at 20mph will put 3 to 4ft swell's at the ramp add shallow water stumps floating into the ramp. Fun!Fun! I know with winds coming out of the north I can't wait I had a blast last year.

Indeed that ramp can be a nightmare in a strong north wind, not sure where the 20 mph forecast came from, last I saw the strongest was 10-12 NE wind, but NE is a bad direction there at even 10mph. Also there was a huge floater basically in the middle of the ramp approx 15-20 yards off the ramp, when I went by there last week on the water.
I was inquiring about the security because I launch at Chandlers almost exclusively, because the theft on the other side of the lake is terrible. I trust the security issues will be addressed by the TD. I am not a fan of theft and honestly try and avoid those sketchy areas on the Garland side of the lake.

I know about the thefts! you even have to watch the parking lot at BPS. I have had to close friends that have thier trucks broke into. I'm lucky because my truck is not much to look at so they leave me alone.

They do the launch there also because they have the Vets meet the boaters at BPS in the morning. That way the guys and gals from JRB Ft. Worth that volunteer can help get the Veterans in and out of the boats. They stand guard over the vehicles all day so security is not an issue.

I am in but I also would have concern over a 20mph wind from the north on that ramp even with help on the launch and take out.

We all know that you are supposed to add the two winds speeds together to get the true on the warer speed. 10-12 is 22 mph.

With High winds, this could get interesting. I for one would not feel comfortable with a angler that can not swimm because of his disablity. Which means if the lake is really bad, we wont be going to far, I dont care what fish I find in practice.
With winds up to 20 mph, olf mother Hubbard will be rough

I personally would not want to be on that lake with 20-30 mph winds with a handycapped person in the boat, it will be miserable for all and absolutely un-safe for all.

I haven't seen a forecast for 20-30 mph winds? Hopefully it won't get that bad

John Paul Jones Park. Used to be called the Chaha ramp across the bridge on the north side of BPS.
