Here you go, Thorpedo. This is the plan I used for mine, except I left my axle longer (wider wheelbase) for a little more stability.

Just thread the nuts on it and when you finish cutting it just back them off and the nut will clean up the cut a bit. wink

That's what I did, but I hit the cut end with a grinder before I removed the nut to give it a little taper.

It does come apart for storage. I only glued the top part together. The rest is just dry fitted. To secure it, I just use bungees.

I made one for my little canoe almost exactly like that, sarcastic, except mine cost about $5 plus all the junk in and around my "workshop" bolt
