What a day on Lake Austin. Myself, Fred "Rionator" and Mike "USMC_GY" headed up north and fished Lake Austin. The bite was simply on "FIRE"! Over 100 fish were caught. We mainly caught Redbreast that were in 8 to 11 inch range. We also caught some very nice Bluegill in the 8 to 9 inch range. Rounding off the catch was several nice Bass in the 14 to 17 inch range and several nice Red Spotted Sunfish in the 5 to 6 inch range. Most fish were caught on worms. Gulp products were also used along with jigs. Fish were caught on drop shot methods and float/bottom techniques. Fish were in 12 to 17 feet of water and bunching up under tree lines and drop offs. There was one hour when fish were being caught every other cast. The water was clear with good current.All fish were released to fight again. Another Great day of fishing with great friends. It don't get any better!

Thanks Curtis and "Fishing Ken" for the replies. "Fishing Ken": The scenery around Lake Austin is breath taking to say the least. Ashley "Aquatic Ash" has captured the beauty of that lake in her past reports. I have worked in Austin for over 25 years with my side business and the Austin Area has some very very nice scenery. I love the canyons that the Colorado River runs through and the park set up the City has provided. This was the first time I have fished Lake Austin. The only regret I have is I should have fished it a whole lot sooner. I hope to fish Lake Austin a lot more.

I was looking up Lake Austin to get some information. Austin has three lakes just like the three river lakes we have on the Guadalupe. Travis, Lake Austin, and the Lady Bird Lake. Here we have Dunlap, Mcqueeney, and Placid. I am learning something new every day! Hope to make some more fishing time in 2013 so that I can fish some of those Austin Lakes.


Side Note: Do you know the lake conditions of the Austin Lakes.

We are lucky and blessed to live by three Great River lakes here in the San Antonio Area. The Anglers in Austin I know feel the same way!. As for the lake conditions Lake Austin looked great and so did the Lady Bird. As for Travis we were able to get a look at it and it truly needs a lot of rain. That lake is very low. Hopefully it will get a good dose of Rain this weekend.
