You couldn't pick a better outfitter than Mark Cowan. He's the best I've come across.

I'll be spending a week with him in a couple of weeks on the Karluk in Kodiak. Mark is top notch all the way.

Enjoyed your report.

He was tying salmon flies when we were together. smile

Mark and I grew up in the same town. Our families have known each other a long time. He's a great guy and a great guide.

LOL, yes he said he would bring me some of his "specials" He is a great fly tyer and creator of patterns.

If you haven't done so, recommend you and your Dad consider going to Xcalak on one of Mark's trips there. It is a great place to have a legit shot at a grand slam and several chances at the elusive Permit. He usually takes groups during the best moon phases in Nov. and March.

I haven't been recently so fishing could have changed, but its a great trip to a sleepy community in a very remote area.

Awesome report and pics. I think this is the best report I've ever seen on TFF. I was very young when I lost my Dad. Cherish every moment you can together. flehan

I've not been to Xcalak, but I'd LOVE to go. Dad has been to Painter's Creek, Alaska and to Belize with Mark. I'd love to hit those places as well.

Well I just got to sit down and go through the set of photos and am flabbergasted! Art! Right here on TFF.

Thanks for sharing the set and most especially the little dollop of icing there at the last with the note about the tarpon rolling in.

That was a great post and excellent pics, I felt like I was there, may hands are still shaking from watching your Dad land the sheepshead.
