Thanks for being my partner dad, wouldn't want it anyother way!!

My Dad is ninety two and recently admitted to a nursing home but we had many good years fishing and still talk about going. The weather is getting such that my brother and I might take him crappie fishing. We did fish a tournament but just sharing time on the lake was good enough for us and we enjoyed fishing for whatever would bite.

If it wasn't for my dad I wouldn't have ever started fishing, let alone tournaments. Me and my dad fish together at least once a month and hunt together every season, he taught me how to drive and maintain a boat. There is nothing better than a great day on the water with my dad.

I was fortunate to fish the LoneStar series with my Dad back in the early 80's and had a blast. We finished 10th in the state 2 years in a row and I will never forget one tournament we fished together. 4 heart attacks and 3 strokes later he does good to cast a crappie rig to a jug but we still do when ever he gets down to my house on LBJ. Memories of a life time folks.

Grew up fishing with my dad from Montana to Missouri to Texas and everywhere in between. He wasn't into the tournament thing. I fished tournaments for the last 20 years of his life as he passed in 2002. My son and I have been fishing tournaments for about 8 years now and it is great.

Up until the last two years, my dad was always my tourney partner if he could be there. We have fished many tournies togther and have had some success. May not have won many, or even come out ahead, BUT the time spent together is worth WAY more than any amount of money. The last two years, his health has prevented him from fishing the bigger trails. We still try to get a couple of smaller ones in before the warmer weather. I have been more consistent the last two years with my current partner, but every good experience, every check I cash, every good practice day, etc., etc., there's always that part of me that wishes he coulda been in the back seat. Even though he's there at the ramp to watch all of it, it's just not the same.

My dad and I fish tournaments pretty regularly, I'm blessed to have a dad that took the patience to teach me how to fish when I was little and continues to support me as it has turned into my passion!

My Dad was not an outdoorsman except that he love to take walks in the woods, etc..

I doubt that I fished even a dozen times with my Dad. Never fished a tournament with him. He would not have had any interest in tournament fishing.

I fish with my Dad as often as I can but we're rarely able to fish tournaments together.
