I'm looking to get a list of places in the DFW area together that are safe and legal to launch this type of boat, similar to the current list of public ponds.

I certainly am not trying to hijack anybody's honey hole but think it would be a great resource to have since these craft are a bit limited in the type of water they can safely manuever. I think with the number of places listed on the bank fishing map it is safe to say that this won't be giving away any secrets. If it is your secret, by all means keep it that way.

I look forward to some great responses.

LBJ Grasslands, Clear Lake.

It's 4 miles North of Decatur on 287 hwy.

It's got a good mix open water and timber with creeks on both ends. Water's clear down about 6' most of the time.

Nice ramp and lookout platform.

I fished there the last two weeks and lost count of the dinks I caught. It's a place you can use to learn new stuff and still catch fish doing it.

The spring and fall are the best time to fish it.

It's Basshunter friendly.

I'm probably gong to get a Two man boat this fall and this thread is an excellent idea. One of my main concerns is how much I would use it and where.

Great input as usual, FFM. That's the spirit. I am working on my list of places that I frequent so I can add to the mix too. probably a good idea since I am the OP?

Google Earth is your friend.

If you look at the bank fishing map, I bet most of those you can put a buster on. Only one way to find out?

I have been wanting to try out white rock lake. I hear its not fished hard for bass and has some good fish.

If there is no sign, I say launch, if someone tells you that you cant be there and leave, then leave. Then you will know.

I've been fishing WRL for the past few weeks since my favorite spot is dry and overgrown with grass. There are some nice fish out there for sure. My wife and I have been the only ones on the water. Depths of up to 25', reeds, grass, timber, boat docks, and rip-rap. What's not to like.

The only thing is the amount of bike and runner traffic. You don't get much solitude but there is a LOT of nice scenery.

Let me know when you want to meet up Carlos or Dan. I'll keep a backseat open.

Tim-

I've got a sweet spot close to white rock Dan is too chicken to go to since it close to the barrio. We should try it out of you wanna drive out his way. PM me and I'll send you a google earth shot of it.

How easy is that basses tender to carry with two people? We might need to walk about 20 yards to launch it.

You can take that buster anywhere a kayak or canoe will go. Check the kayak section out as well, guys. Tons and Tons of great places are being shared all the time.

I agree with Clear Lake out in the LBJ grasslands. It doesnt get the pressure that cottonwood does. It also offers more of a variety of structures.
