Hey Carey,
Are the flies you listed for October/November all wet flies? Does that mean you don't even bother with the surface?
sorry for the newb question...

Blue winged olives, elk hair caddis as your dries.
I'm mainly throwing the Near Deer 90% of the time.
October-November, I throw the micro eggs and rs2's

Carey,
I'm heading to LMF for the Nov 2nd weekend. I was hoping to buy a couple flies from your website. Which specific colors of the Near Deer to you recommend?

Order all crawfish color. Then email me and ask to change order to the secret color. I will have that issue fixed soon in my store.

Cary , where are you finding the fish? I went there a couple of weeks ago and fished the Evening hole and the fish were just not there. The ones I did see were not interested in anything that I was throwing out there. The water seemed warmer than usual. I caught very few fish in two days. I guess it could be the fisherman... lol
I swear I caught so many fish that the water level went down!

I'll be there Friday and Saturday. Might stay till Sunday. Text me when ur going to the river. I'm all over the place so I never know where I'll be.
The fish are everywhere. Most are near the major stocking points. Evening hole got hammered, so did the rest of the river last week. Fall break for Okies. There were people everywhere. 20 people were fishing off the bridge at the end of the evening hole. 40-50 peeps in the evening hole itself. No camp grounds or RV slots open. It was bad. But thankfully I was booked for crappie at Lavon all week. BaffinBay said he went and told me the crazy was there.

Ive got to give credit where credit is doCarey Thorne is not only a great fisherman but also a hell of a nice guy. This past weekend I went fishing up in Oklahomas beautiful Beavers Bend state park. Ive spent countless hours fishing there throughout the years(at least 4 trips every yr for the last 15yrs). The two past years I have started fly fishing, prior to that it was all spinning gear. Since switching to fly-fishing my catch total had drop considerably along with my overall confidence in skills and tactics. So anyway back to Carey, since I was going up there I wanted to see if Carey was available to hire as a guide for the day. I texted him Friday to see if was available, he responded quickly but not with answer I imagined. I asked he could take out me Saturday and he quickly shot back the park is to busy for me to guide but lets meet up and Ill put you on the right path. Sure enough Saturday morning I get a text from Carey telling me when and where we can meet up. As soon as we meet up Carey goes into guide mood, quickly inspecting my setup and making the necessary changes to help me along. Carey also showed me in a matter of minutes how I could considerably save money on leaders and tippets. After setting up my leader Carey gave me an incredible deal on his hand tied flies, I think I bought as many he gave me, lol... After quick education on the dos and donts of beavers bend flyfishing we hit the river. On Careys first cast I quickly saw his flies in action, on the first drift a beautiful 15in rainbow turned and inhaled his near deer fly. For next hour and half Carey and I fished side-by-side all the while Carey instructed on locations and tactics. In those 90 minutes I caught 6 trout and Carey caught 13, needless to say his flies just straight up work. I found that I could go right behind someone fishing a hole (once they were done) and pull a trout out when they couldnt. Carey went well above any expectation I had for our meet and greet. Ive taken out few guides in my time, some were good, some were bad and few have been great! Carey definitely falls in the great category. Im not sure many guides would turn down money due the conditions and still guide for a little over an hour. Carey is not only a great guy but also a true great ambassador of fishing. While we were fishing he was giving pointers and striking up conversation with nearby fishermen. Once Carey felt confident in my ability he left to go to another part of the river. However, throughout the day he texted me and continued to give me pointers on fly selection and presentation. At the days end Carey texted me once more to see how I finished. All in all it was a great day I caught 18 rainbows, 13 coming from his flies. If your every in need of a great guide give Carey a call and I know he will take care you.

BaffinBay said he went and told me the crazy was there. Been up there last two weekends. As luck would have it, some region of Oklahoma was on it's fall break. More people than I have ever seen there (30+ years). Major fishing pressure everywhere. Everyone was real friendly and courteous. Weather was great. Camping in Cypress Parking at Cold Hole My kids and FIRE...
