Hello everyone, this is my 1st time here.
I am presently keeping about 100 nightcrawlers for personal use. I keep them in an old fridge at about 45deg. And feed them chicken feed and coffie grounds once a month. I lost the 1st batch after 9 months because when I went to get some out the food got mixed into the spagnum moss and caused bacteria to grow. I read about this after they died.
My guestion is, how can I get some out to use and not stir the food into the medium?
I hope it's ok to fish, hunt, shoot, ride motorcycle, chase women & drink beer after you retire, cause I'm still doin' it!

Welcome to the forum JB. Wish I could help on this one but I can't. If nobody is able to help you here id def. try the bluegill section where you have a better chance of someone who handles nightcrawlers often.

Is there a way to delete this thread and restart it in the bluegill section so it's not in two places, or dosen't it matter?

Anyway to build you bed in a container that has a lid on the top and bottom? Just flip them over, remove the bottom and harvest your worms. Just my upside down way of thinking.

I agree with Huntin and Fishin on this one. Make a box with a lid on each side, and when you're ready for a couple of Canadian Dirt Snakes, flip the bottom up, take off the lid, and Vuala! your worms will be waiting.

If it was me.... I would have label the TOP & BOTTOM...... Or I would forget to flip it back over when the worm harvest was complete.

in pensylvania you can catch all you want everytime it rains as soon as it gets dark ......
so i dont know why if you lived there you would need to keep them very long
and we never fed our worms chicken feed when we kept them for a while ......
just used coffee grounds once in a great while .....
i had a box full in my frig here in texas for 6 months ....
just dampen them once every 1 or 2 months and after 3 momths give them a few coffee grounds ......
