You don't need it. I would go with whatever you have confidence in. I thought that suffix orange braid was the best stuff ever until I stood side by side with someone kickin' my butt fishing with Stren clear blue mono. Now truth be told I think he could have had yarn on his pole and still out did me, but confidence in your set up is important.

I just use Cajun Red mono on my crappie stuff and dont have a problem catching fish. I use floro on my bass gear because I like the fall rate of my baits with the floro and the sensitivity, but a lot of people keep telling me to try braid or nanofil and they say I'll love it.

its all a confidence thing, IMHO. I've caught em left and rite using 50# Cortland braid on a Packs Pole with minnows and that stuff conceals like whale rope.

Personally I think most of the time it will not matter. If I am fishing stained water, say I can still see my jig 2 feet down I still like braid best. However once I can see my jig more than 3 feet down I do think at times braid will hurt as far as number of bites, but still don't think you would need fluorocarbon and mono is good enough. Some call this line shy when the crappie shy away from biting a braid or some line that is clearly visible to them. Not too long ago I was fishing and couldn't buy a bite so I picked up a rod I had mono on and started getting bites so I do think it can make a difference if using braid or mono in pretty clear water, but I also believe I could have just put a long leader of mono on and still done fine.

I was having some trouble with a fluro leader not long ago, ended up tying straight to braid and continued to catch fish. I still tie up new leaders before each trip though, but under the right conditions I do not think that it matters. I think it does matter when things are slow though, that's where the confindence factor comes in also.

A paintbrush in the hands of Monet a chisel in the hands of Donatello probably wouldn't make a difference what brand/type.
Whitneylakerat nailed it with his post. Since I'm no renaissance artist when it comes to fishing; I need all the advantages I can get. But the line type or color is not nearly important as having reliable line combined with a good knot.
Use whatever you like best!

In July when the bite was really light I went with 4# fireline with a fluoro leader and caught more fish. I also lost some bigger ones though on the lite leader (green fish). My identical pole and jigs with 8# yellow mono had a much slower bite until I switched it over. I just put some electrical tape over the mono, tied on about 30' of the lite weight braid and then the fluoro leader.
On a different day with a better bite having straight 10# mono could catch the most fish (no wasting time with leaders, fewer break offs).
If it is very clear water, there is no question. I would go with a fluorocarbon leader.

I use 10/2 Power Pro in Hi VIS braid all the time in very clear water and do not think it effects the bite. By clear water I mean you can see 10 to 12 feet down. I have experimented with coloring the last 3 feet of line closest to the jig with a black marks alot but don't do it very often. I think a leader is a pain so never use one. I fish with a guy who does and he has never out caught me in the last 3 years. I guess being from Missouri someone would have to be in the boat with me and show me it makes a difference before I would believe it.
I just bought a spool of 6lb fluorocabin to try but have not spooled any up yet to try. I am interested to see how it performs.
