Should be fine, I cast weightless 3" grubs on a med/light 7 footer and never have issues when I stop the line and close the bail and I am using fluorocarbon which is supposed to be a no no for spinning rigs.

It gets better with the break in, I have the same stuff on several rods and stoping the line works.
