Didn't look to see what number I was on the Squaw petition.....................but I will ensure I am number two on the list to tell sns that his comments are not needed. Whether you agree or not is no matter to me I could care less I didn't raise you, apparently you feel you have the right to call names and insult people and question there integrity.................let me assure you ..........you don't. A bit of advice.........sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut and let everyone assume you are an ***, than to open it and remove all doubt.
Hope this helps.
Jay thank you for your efforts

Tstick and all the other lemmings on this board,
JayinGrapevine, the "enforcer of man law" claims that TXU Contract Lake #1 is Squaw Creek with no evidence except for some other post in 2005. Who had the same thought.
UNFORTUNATELY IT IS NOT SQUAW CREEK,
it is a small 110 acre lake near Lake Fairfield. The lake was given to the State by TXU and it is used for research.
the petition is useless since TP&W has NO CONTROL OVER SQUAW CREEK OR TXU.
Johnylongwood, read all of my posts and inform me were I have called anyone names, or questioned their integrity. I have asked Jay to back up this petition with facts and he has not done so. I have researched TXU contract lake #1 on google, it shows up on several links, one being TP&W SMALL lakes stocking history. I inquired with TP&W about the lake, they emailed me with information above.
I hope this helps....I for one would love to have this lake open, it WAS a great fishery. the fact remains it is a PRIVATE lake that is closed to the public, and this poorly written petition will not get it open, no matter how many sign.

Let people say what they want. I will be the first to tell you, my research is based %50 on fact, %50 on suspicion. You can look at the facts I have presented and judge for yourself. SNS went to the trouble of actually contacting someone at TPWD, so he has information I did not. To the other naysayers who simply say "Not gonna happen" - it probably won't. In fact, there's a 99.99999% chance that it won't, but if there is that .0000001% chance that it will help, I don't want to let that chance slip by without doing my DAMNEDEST to make some change and open this lake back up to the people that paid for and the people that want and deserve to fish it. Again, we're rattling cages and making a simple stance. Open it back up.
Keep up the good work and don't let anyone discourage from doing anything you believe in.
The only true intercontinental champion.

Please post your evidence of this conspiracy.
The stocking history for all lakes in Texas in current thru 2005. Squaw Creek does not show any activity since the nineties on any of their stocking sites. I sampled / compared various lakes on the total stocking pages vs. the lakes individual stocking page - guess what the figures added up. It would have taken some time / effort to adjust the figures from each lake to compensate for the removal of Squaw Creek's fish from the accounting tables
TP&W does not keep track of private stockings which are paid for by the owner. If you or other "enforcers of man law" saw fish being stocked then TXU might have paid for the fish.
Please get over the fact that Squaw Creek is a PRIVATE lake now. What difference does it make where fishing shows are filmed most are done on private stock ponds. Words spoken like a true PETA person.

SQUAW CREEK IS A PRIVATE LAKE. There is no way to force TXU to reopen it any more than the TPWD could force me to open my private pond to the public.
The issue with the fish stocking, IMO, is moot. The most that could ever happen would be some judge would require TXU to pay for the fish. It would not be a lot of money anyway, and we would all contribute the next time we turned a light on. So in effect we would pay for the fish twice. In any case, using prior fish stockings as a lever will not succeed in forcing TXU to let us fish there again. In my opinion, following this line of thought is the same as saying, "yeah....they're reaming us, but there's nothing we can do about it, so we may as well let 'em do it." [/b]badkarma, you missed my point based on your reply to my post. TXU owns the lake, and the TPWD has no power to force them to reopen it for us. So why are we making this a TPWD issue? The only way we ever get back on Squaw Creek is if TXU decides to let us. Nobody can tell them what to do with their property anymore than they can tell us what to do with ours. I respect what y'all are trying to do here, but I think the bullseye has been painted on the wrong target. And I don't think anybody is getting 'reamed', this is a basic issue over a corporation's decision of how to use their property. TXU has done nothing wrong, any more than any other private landowner who chooses not to let us fish on their lake. If you want to fish in my pond, you should find a way to develop a relationship with me and hope for an invite. I guarantee you if you started attacking me with a petition claiming I had done something illegal you would never get your boat wet in my water. The State of Texas paid to stock Squaw Creek. I do not doubt that fact. The ASCS still provides funding to private landowners who build ponds. But the fact that goverment funding went towards building those ponds in no way means that us taxpayers have any right to fish them. That decision is left up to the landowner. The same applies to TXU and Squaw Creek. Nobody was protesting back when Squaw Creek was open to the public and TWPD was stocking it, were they? There were no idealistic petitions going on about using public funds to stock private waters then. We assumed that TXU would continue to let us fish there. We all looked the other way. Now that we don't get the benefit of what we are now saying was not a proper use of our money, we want to be two faced about it and holler 'foul' in an effort to force some type of change. The real mistake was made back in the '90s, but a lot of us got to enjoy some great fishing, didn't we?
Joe

They would probably reopen the lake if they could figure out a way to make a profit from doing so.

Cap Joe is correct private lake, however, people can and do fish that lake TXU employees can fish their cooling tanks on specified days. Power companies donate an imense amount of money and lakes to Texas Parks and Wildlife for research so they can do as they wish. Recently (winter)I went to the Barney Jones facility in Corpus Christi to fish for reds and black drum and they maintain it is closed. As a matter of fact you cannot even get close to the hotwater discharge in the intercoastal. Once this post 911 hysteria blows over we will be fine until then I think it is all CYA procedures. Just think how good it will be once it opens.. They will open it in maybe one year or ten but no protest or petition is going to move them to do it.
SNS What the hell does illegal immigration have to do with this? In all your efforts to be heard a comment like that only discredits you. Mexican immigration will never stop and if it did fast food, agricultural products, and landscaping would increase by 1000%, because I sure as hell not going to pick lettuce, wash dishes, or mow lawns for you.
