I've caught some of them ugly suckers in a couple of ponds in Pearland. Don't know if they're the exact same fish, but they look the same. I thought they were some damn exotic that jerks had released.

Thanks for guys for the replies. JohnButte: The Rios are in Cichlid family. They are super fighting fish and they are also a very good eating fish. They are also a warm water fish and the Houston area is loaded with em.

Thanks Robert and "Roofish" for the replies. Robert: Yes it was a very good outing. The Rios seemed to be very active. "Roofish" PM sent on location. Have not been up in the Austin area since the last time me and Fred fished the LBL at Red bud. We will call ya when we are back in your area.

nice ones guys, I still cannot get the ones here to hit a fly, lure, worm, corn, maggot, crappie bite, nothing, maybe too many people around or water temp has them slow, I dunno, water temp this time of year Isnear 70 in the springs. I will eventually find the right time, bait, and presentation.

Thanks "jbjtexas" for the reply. Those Rios you are trying to catch must really be glued to their nest. I am still seeing a few on nest up here however there are a lot of em that are off and looking for food. Keep trying it won't be long until they are biting.
