Didn't have a lot of time but between dawn till 9am I caught a dozen cats on CJ crawfish punch bait. First time to try CJ's. No size to them but aggressive. With weekend here I thought I'd post in case anyone is looking for a spot, bait used, technique to bring kids. Bait:CJ crawfish punch bait(any punch bait should work) Setup: 1oz weight on bottom #8 treble hook 2' up. Sitting on forked stick. It was windy, a cork setup 3'deep would work. Location: I fished between farthest north side of overlook park near the inlet of dam in 3-5' of water. Surprisingly shallow so close to the dam.(exact spot spillway fishing parking lot and walked across the road going along the low area of spillway. I cast out as far as I could.) Setup should work anywhere. Just stay shallow 3-5' near deep. They all had green stinky moss in them. No shad or anything else in them. I tried cut and whole shad and didn't get a bite. Not an expert or have a limit to prove,I was fishing large cut bait for blues but lake fooled me as far as depth there and just wanted to catch something and half heartedly tried for keeper cats. Good luck

Thanks, just thinking it might have been useful to someone new to the lake. Thanks for the offer. Im just here during the week and go home on weekends. Chasing the dollar sure is hard on family life. I have a few boats just no time to do much working night shift. Sure like to find some big blues on Somerville. Went to Brazos today again. Just a 3lb blue. Fished hard with 8 rods, up and down the river at 105 bridge. Gar didn't even mess with the bait much. Cut,live, shad, carp, perch, stink, liver and just one fish caught. Wow. I know its not the right time of the year but shoot. Oh well, good luck

Weldon, you really know your stuff. Proof in smiles on customers faces. I always read your reports to see what you caught today. Like going to the coast ,not to fish but still going to see what the charter boats bring in a dusk.
