My favorite are my Pflueger contenders, but my pro anglers are real work horses too. Both can handle big fish for sure. I have the Pfluegers on Pro Angler rods, and the pro anglers on TC yellows. Abus are great reels tho. Cannot go wrong with the swiss made ones as others have noted. FYI.....all BPS reels are made by Pflueger. Nearly every reel in the BPS catalog, except for ABU, Shimano, Diawa, are made by PFLUEGER. The MEGA-CORP that owns nearly everything outdoors, including Academy Sporting Goods is JARDEN LLC. As such....most Penn reels, Zebco reels, all the Shakespear stuff....most every other reel is made in the Chinese factory that makes Pflueger. Look up JARDEN, and see just who all they own...my gawd its massive. Allstar, Shakespear, Coleman, Penn, Zebco, Abu Garcia,.....its all Jarden. One last thing. Abu garcia reels made in Sweden use all stainless Steel bearings and races....therefore, they are good in saltwater if taken care of. MOST of the freshwater reels sold today, unless stated, use a hi-carbon steel bearing, definately NOT rated for saltwater, and they literally dissolve in the salt. Guys.....Ill bottom line this for you all. American made Penn, Japanese made shimano, and Swedish made Abu .....cant go wrong with these. Everything else.... is pretty much disposable junk. Might look good, might sell for a low price..... but ask the sales guy...."Can I get parts for this, here, now, or online? "

I wish ProAngler still sold catfish reels. Those were the best reels to own for catfishing.
Waiting on Bob Davis' next selfie
