I have better Luck when using Flouro, especially in the lower end of the lake. Right now there is no reason for straight braid.

Jay do you use straight braid down there always? If so do you use a leader? I dont always use braid, I use straight 65 lb 832.

Jay is 100% right.
30lb Braid WILL cause you to lose big fish at falcon. Especially when the water comes back up.
Anyone that recomends less than 50lb on braid has not fished falcon much. I use 25lb LFT Flouro or 65lb braid Minimum for flipping and JIgs. 15-17lb LFT Flouro for Cranks. hmmmm... 3 times in the last 2 months and haven't had a break off yet with 30. I do retie often though but I do that with everything.
15. Signature images may not be larger than 600 pixels wide by 125 pixels tall. This includes logos, photos and other graphics. Also, no more than one row of images are allowed. If you want four or five logos in your signature, reduce their size to fit in one row.

Every bush down there has thorns. When yer a fish that lives in an invironment that you are constantly getting stuck, the fish are not timid. They are very aggressive! Hense, the size of line does not effect there eating habits.
"If you've quit learn'n, you might'as well quit fish'n cuz yer not catch'n as many fish as ya should be!"

150class I am sure you could get away with it in some applications.....gl and glad it works for you, but I have seen a lot of folks come down here and get their feelings hurt with braid less than 65 lb......

If you are going to use Braid why wouldn't you use the better braid for the job? If you are using 30lb, you would be better with 25lb flouro or Mono, both have better abrasion resistance. You Should Certainly use what ever you feel comfortable with. I just hate seeing someone lose the fish of a lifetime because the Equipment was wrong.

The Water level right now lends to being able to get away with smaller line. If you try it when the water level is up...... it will not work out good for you.

Jay - You get all that braid off any reels we're going to use when we come down in September! Fluorocarbon all the way.

Just use 50-65lb braid. They cant tell the difference between the braided line and a strand of the silicone skirt on a jig. Use braid and dont worry about it. You will catch them.

Last year when we were there flipping deeper trees (14 to 18 feet), we got a lot less bites on braided line. We belived it had to do with the sound that the braid makes as its rubbing against the tree branches. We switched to 20 pound fluro and got more bites, but we were having 10 foot of shreded line after pulling the fish out of the tree. Decided on the last day to put on the trust worthy berkley big game in 20 pound. Landed more fish and had minimal issues with damaged line after being wrapped up in trees. We will be on Falcon this weekend, I will have 20 pound big game spooled up.

Had 3 ppl in my boat and the one person that used braid was not getting bites. He switched on the 2nd day and started catching fish.

With Braid it is the sound and not the visibuility that will turn off fish.
I have watched it happen in My boat lots of times with my Coangler. Get them to change to Flouro or mono and they start having more bites.
At Falcon this seems to happen during Very high fishing pressure. Which has been most of this year.

My partner would be using the same jig With fluorocarbon and he wasn't catching more fish than me. You will get just as many bites with braid and get more of them in the boat.

I guess you have been there with ME? No, don't think so. I have seen it happen several times this year. Now unless your an IDIOT you won't say you know what has happened in my boat because you don't. If you want to use braid by all means have at it. I COULD CARE LESS IF YOU USED YELLOW NYLON ROPE. By the way, if you still think the noise is nonsense. just throw a Go pro out on braid and wind it in. Then you will see how loud it is. Or better yet stick your head under the water and listen. You won't be able to deny it then. I do use braid when I can get away with it, but I know when it is hurting me too.
