I am trying to find a place where I can catch about 100 Goggle perch, also known as slicks, or green sunfish. I have a tank that went dry last year and we had it dug out and now would like to stock it with perch before we put anything else in it. If anyone knows of an area around Waco it would be greatly appreciated.

spent my whole childhood catching those big Goggle Eyes on our river and tanks around Crawford. Any creek no matter how small had them in there. Maybe the bridge over hog creek on hwy 317 between Crawford and Valley Mills. If you take that same road east it crosses an old causway that had 50 years worth of goggles on the deep side. Try Google earth to find that spot, the road kinda skirts along the creek.
But then again Im sure it went dry last summer.

I hunt right up the hill from that causway and have seen perch in there but never paid much attention as to what kind they were. Thanks for the info.

100 coppernose bluegills from one of the fish farms costs like 50 to 65 bux and they are a way better sunfish for stocking as a forage base.....
greenies are some of the most aggresive of sunfish and not the best forage fish .....

I agree with not fishing, they are not all that expensive and they could also be fun to catch down the road. If you stock bass the survivors could grow to be quite a fun fish
