let them dry out in the sun for a little while then cut them in 1 inch increments or so and hook them through the tough skin. Best way i know how to do it.
I thank God for each day!

I'll have to try the Garlic salt. I didn't have any problem getting them to stay on the hooks at all. I was impressed that I caught a total of 9 fish (all 2-3 pounds) the first time ever using jugs. I will use hot dogs again.

Had a friend with a pond on their property that was overstocked and they invited me to fish. So, I show up with my lures & jigs and don't catch anything. The next day, they ask about the fishing. THEN, they tell me that they always use hotdogs.
Live near Benbrook Lake. Love crappie fishing.

I haven't had much luck with hotdogs for catfish. Turtles and perch enjoy the heck outta them, though. I prefer mine on the grill. For cats, I like my bait in this order of preference:
- Fresh [large] cut shad - Frozen [large] cut shad - Fresh [minnow] shad - Frozen [minnow] shad - Chicken livers put into small cheesecloth bags - Danny Kings or CJ's - Wal-mart bagged dough bait - Nightcrawlers/worms - And then maybe a hotdog

i like to bring a toothpick with me and shove it lengthwise through the hot dog, then worm my snelled bait holder hook backwards through the hole. if that makes sense. helps to keep the hot dog on the hook1
hook 'em and cook 'em
